54 (Eine Unterweisung Davids, vorzusingen, auf Saitenspiel; da die von Siph kamen und sprachen zu Saul: David hat sich bei uns verborgen.) Hilf mir, Gott, durch deinen Namen und schaffe mir Recht durch deine Gewalt.
2 Gott, erhöre mein Gebet, vernimm die Rede meines Mundes.
3 Denn Stolze setzen sich wider mich, und Trotzige stehen mir nach meiner Seele und haben Gott nicht vor Augen. (Sela.)
4 Siehe, Gott steht mir bei, der HERR erhält meine Seele.
5 Er wird die Bosheit meinen Feinden bezahlen. Verstöre sie durch deine Treue!
6 So will ich dir ein Freudenopfer tun und deinen Namen, HERR, danken, daß er so tröstlich ist.
7 Denn du errettest mich aus aller meiner Not, daß mein Auge an meinen Feinden Lust sieht.

For the music director; on stringed instruments. A [a]Maskil of David, [b]when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, “Is David not keeping himself hidden among us?”
54 Save me, God, by (A)Your name,
And [c]vindicate me by (B)Your power.
2 (C)Hear my prayer, God;
(D)Listen to the words of my mouth.
3 For strangers have (E)risen against me
And (F)violent men have (G)sought my [d]life;
They have (H)not set God before them. Selah
4 Behold, (I)God is my helper;
The Lord is [e]the (J)sustainer of my soul.
5 [f]He will (K)pay back the evil to my enemies;
[g](L)Destroy them (M)in Your [h]faithfulness.
6 [i](N)Willingly I will sacrifice to You;
I will (O)praise Your name, Lord, for it is good.
7 For [j]He has (P)saved me from all [k]trouble,
And my eye has (Q)looked with satisfaction upon my enemies.

54 Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.
2 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.
3 For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah.
4 Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.
5 He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth.
6 I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O Lord; for it is good.
7 For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.
