53 (Eine Unterweisung Davids, im Chor umeinander vorzusingen.) Die Toren sprechen in ihrem Herzen: Es ist kein Gott. Sie taugen nichts und sind ein Greuel geworden in ihrem bösen Wesen; das ist keiner, der Gutes tut.
2 Gott schaut vom Himmel auf der Menschen Kinder, daß er sehe, ob jemand klug sei, der nach Gott frage.
3 Aber sie sind alle abgefallen und allesamt untüchtig; da ist keiner, der Gutes tue, auch nicht einer.
4 Wollen denn die Übeltäter sich nicht sagen lassen, die mein Volk fressen, daß sie sich nähren? Gott rufen sie nicht an.
5 Da fürchten sie sich aber, wo nichts zu fürchten ist; denn Gott zerstreut die Gebeine derer, die dich belagern. Du machst sie zu Schanden; denn Gott verschmäht sie.
6 Ach daß Hilfe aus Zion über Israel käme und Gott sein gefangen Volk erlösete! So würde sich Jakob freuen und Israel fröhlich sein.

2 Der Narr spricht in seinem Herzen:
»Es gibt keinen Gott!«
Sie handeln verderblich und begehen abscheulichen Frevel;
da ist keiner, der Gutes tut.
3 Gott schaut vom Himmel
auf die Menschenkinder,
um zu sehen, ob es einen Verständigen gibt,
einen, der nach Gott fragt.
4 Sie sind alle abgewichen,
allesamt verdorben;
es gibt keinen, der Gutes tut,
auch nicht einen Einzigen!
5 Haben denn die Übeltäter keine Einsicht,
die mein Volk verschlingen, als äßen sie Brot?
Gott rufen sie nicht an.
6 Dann aber überfällt sie Furcht,
wo nichts zu fürchten ist;
denn Gott zerstreut die Gebeine deiner Belagerer;
du machst sie zuschanden, denn Gott hat sie verworfen.
7 Ach, dass aus Zion die Rettung für Israel käme!
Wenn Gott das Geschick seines Volkes wendet,
wird Jakob sich freuen und Israel fröhlich sein.

1 The fool(B) says in his heart,
“There is no God.”(C)
They are corrupt, and their ways are vile;
there is no one who does good.
2 God looks down from heaven(D)
on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,(E)
any who seek God.(F)
3 Everyone has turned away, all have become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.(G)
4 Do all these evildoers know nothing?
They devour my people as though eating bread;
they never call on God.
5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
where there was nothing to dread.(H)
God scattered the bones(I) of those who attacked you;(J)
you put them to shame,(K) for God despised them.(L)
6 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When God restores his people,
let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

53 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
2 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
3 Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.
5 There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.
6 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
