¹² All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
    no one does good,
    not even one.”

    and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.
^(B)We all fade like a leaf,
    and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

⁵ Why then has this people ^(A)turned away
    in perpetual ^(B)backsliding?
^(C)They hold fast to deceit;
    they refuse to return.
^6 (D)I have paid attention and listened,
    but they have not spoken rightly;
no man relents of his evil,
    saying, ‘What have I done?’
Everyone turns to his own course,
    ^(E)like a horse plunging headlong into battle.

^6 (A)All we like sheep have gone astray;
    we have turned—every one—to his own way;
^(B)and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.
