⁵ This is why God will bring you down forever.
He will take you, ripping you out of your tent;
he will uproot you from the land of the living.^(G)Selah
⁶ The righteous will see and fear,
and they will derisively say about that hero,^[a](H)
7 “Here is the man
who would not make God his refuge,
but trusted in the abundance of his riches,
taking refuge in his destructive behavior.”^(I)

⁸ But I am like a flourishing olive tree
in the house of God;^(J)
I trust in God’s faithful love forever and ever.^(K)
9 I will praise you forever for what you have done.
In the presence of your faithful people,
I will put my hope in your name, for it is good.^(L)

²⁴ Four things on earth are small,
yet they are extremely wise:
²⁵ ants are not a strong people,
yet they store up their food in the summer;^(A)
26 hyraxes are not a mighty people,
yet they make their homes in the cliffs;^(B)
27 locusts have no king,
yet all of them march in ranks;^(C)
28 a lizard^[a] can be caught in your hands,
yet it lives in kings’ palaces.
