Psalm 5
King James Version
5 Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.
2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.
3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
8 Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.
10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.
11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
12 For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

Trust in God for Deliverance from Enemies
To the choirmaster: for the flutes. A Psalm of David.
5 Give ear to my words, O Lord;
give heed to my groaning.
2 Hearken to the sound of my cry,
    my King and my God,
    for to thee do I pray.
3 O Lord, in the morning thou dost hear my voice;
    in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for thee, and watch.
4 For thou art not a God who delights in wickedness;
    evil may not sojourn with thee.
5 The boastful may not stand before thy eyes;
    thou hatest all evildoers.
6 Thou destroyest those who speak lies;
    the Lord abhors bloodthirsty and deceitful men.
7 But I through the abundance of thy steadfast love
    will enter thy house,
I will worship toward thy holy temple
    in the fear of thee.
8 Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness
    because of my enemies;
    make thy way straight before me.
9 For there is no truth in their mouth;
    their heart is destruction,
their throat is an open sepulchre,
    they flatter with their tongue.
10 Make them bear their guilt, O God;
    let them fall by their own counsels;
because of their many transgressions cast them out,
    for they have rebelled against thee.
11 But let all who take refuge in thee rejoice,
    let them ever sing for joy;
and do thou defend them,
    that those who love thy name may exult in thee.
12 For thou dost bless the righteous, O Lord;
    thou dost cover him with favor as with a shield.

Oração pedindo a proteção de Deus
Salmo de Davi. Ao regente do coro — para flautas.
5 Ó Senhor Deus,
    ouve as minhas palavras
e escuta os meus gemidos!
2 Meu Rei e meu Deus,
    atende o meu pedido de ajuda,
pois eu oro a ti, ó Senhor!
3 De manhã ouves a minha voz;
quando o sol nasce,
    eu faço a minha oração
e espero a tua resposta.
4 Tu não és Deus que tenha prazer
    na maldade;
tu não permites que os maus
    sejam teus hóspedes.
5 Tu não suportas a presença
    dos orgulhosos
e detestas os que praticam o mal.
6 Acabas com os mentirosos
e desprezas os violentos e os falsos.
7 Mas, por causa do teu grande amor,
eu posso entrar nos pátios
    da tua casa
e ajoelhar com todo o respeito,
voltado para o teu santo Templo.
8 Ó Senhor Deus, ajuda-me a fazer
    a tua vontade
e faze com que o teu caminho
    seja reto e plano para mim!
Que os meus inimigos vejam
    que tu estás comigo!
9 Não se pode confiar
    no que eles dizem,
pois só pensam em destruir.
A sua conversa é uma bajulação macia,
mas está cheia de engano e morte.
10 Condena e castiga-os, ó Deus!
Que os próprios planos deles
    os façam cair na desgraça!
Expulsa-os da tua presença,
pois eles muitas vezes quebram
    as tuas leis
e se revoltam contra ti.
11 Mas os que buscam abrigo em ti
    ficarão contentes
e sempre cantarão de alegria
    porque tu os defendes.
Os que te amam
    encontram a felicidade em ti.
12 Pois tu, ó Senhor Deus,
    abençoas os que te obedecem,
a tua bondade os protege
    como um escudo.
