Gott liebt Jerusalem
48 Ein Lied der Nachkommen von Korach.
2 Groß ist der Herr!
Lobt ihn in Jerusalem, der Stadt unseres Gottes,
auf seinem heiligen Berg!
3 Der Berg Zion ragt im Norden auf[a] –
er ist voll Schönheit und Pracht.
Die Stadt des großen Königs erfreut die ganze Welt.
4 In den Palästen wissen es alle:
Gott selbst beschützt Jerusalem.
5 Feindliche Könige verbündeten sich
und zogen gegen Jerusalem.
6 Doch kaum erblickten sie die Stadt, blieben sie erschrocken stehen;
in panischer Angst ergriffen sie die Flucht.
7 Ja, sie zitterten am ganzen Leib –
wie eine Frau, die in den Wehen liegt.
8 Wie stolze Schiffe[b], die im Sturm zerschellen,
so hast du sie vernichtet.
9 Das alles haben wir früher nur gehört, doch nun erleben wir es selbst:
Gott ist der allmächtige Herr,
an Jerusalem sehen wir seine Größe.
Durch ihn wird die Stadt auf ewig bestehen.
10 In deinem Tempel, o Gott,
denken wir über deine Güte nach.
11 In jedem Land kennt man deinen Namen,
dein Ruhm reicht bis ans Ende der Welt.
Du sorgst für Recht und Gerechtigkeit,
12 darum herrscht Freude auf dem Berg Zion.
Ja, was du beschließt, das ist gerecht,
darum jubelt man dir in den Städten Judas zu.
13 Wandert um den Berg Zion,
geht rings um die Stadt und zählt ihre Festungstürme!
14 Bestaunt die unbezwingbaren Mauern und Paläste!
Dann könnt ihr der nächsten Generation erzählen:
15 »So ist Gott! Er ist unser Herr für immer und ewig;
allezeit wird er uns führen[c]!«

- 48,3 Oder: Der Berg Zion, die Höhenzüge des Berges Zafon. – Der Zafon galt in der kanaanitischen Mythologie als heiliger Ort, an dem sich die Götter versammelten. Somit würde der Zion hier als der wahre »Götterberg« gepriesen werden.
- 48,8 Wörtlich: Tarsis-Schiffe. – So wurden große Handelsschiffe bezeichnet, die in der Lage waren, die weite Strecke bis nach Tarsis (im heutigen Spanien) zu segeln.
- 48,15 So nach vielen hebräischen Handschriften und der griechischen Übersetzung. Der hebräische Text lautet: bis zum Tode wird er uns führen.

48 Grande es el Señor, y muy digno de ser alabado(A)
en la ciudad de nuestro Dios(B), su santo monte(C).
2 Hermoso en su elevación(D), el gozo de toda la tierra(E)
es el monte Sión, en el extremo norte,
la ciudad del gran Rey(F).
3 Dios en sus palacios
se dio a conocer como baluarte(G).
4 Pues, he aquí, los reyes se reunieron(H);
pasaron juntos.
5 Ellos la vieron y quedaron pasmados;
se aterrorizaron(I) y huyeron alarmados.
6 Allí se apoderó de ellos un temblor;
dolor como el de mujer que está de parto(J).
7 Con el viento solano(K)
tú destrozas las naves de Tarsis(L).
8 Como lo hemos oído, así lo hemos visto
en la ciudad del Señor de los ejércitos, en la ciudad de nuestro Dios;
Dios la afirmará para siempre(M). (Selah[a])
9 En tu misericordia, oh Dios, hemos meditado(N),
en medio de tu templo.
10 Oh Dios, como es tu nombre(O),
así es tu alabanza(P) hasta los confines de la tierra;
llena de justicia está tu diestra(Q).
11 Alégrese el monte Sión,
regocíjense las hijas de Judá(R),
a causa de tus juicios.
12 Andad por Sión e id alrededor de ella;
contad sus torres(S);
13 considerad atentamente sus murallas(T),
recorred sus palacios,
para que lo contéis a la generación venidera(U).
14 Porque este es Dios,
nuestro Dios por siempre jamás;
Él nos guiará hasta la muerte[b](V).

1 Great is the Lord,(A) and most worthy of praise,(B)
in the city of our God,(C) his holy mountain.(D)
2 Beautiful(E) in its loftiness,
the joy of the whole earth,
like the heights of Zaphon[b](F) is Mount Zion,(G)
the city of the Great King.(H)
3 God is in her citadels;(I)
he has shown himself to be her fortress.(J)
4 When the kings joined forces,
when they advanced together,(K)
5 they saw her and were astounded;
they fled in terror.(L)
6 Trembling seized(M) them there,
pain like that of a woman in labor.(N)
7 You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish(O)
shattered by an east wind.(P)
8 As we have heard,
so we have seen
in the city of the Lord Almighty,
in the city of our God:
God makes her secure
forever.[c](Q)
9 Within your temple, O God,
we meditate(R) on your unfailing love.(S)
10 Like your name,(T) O God,
your praise reaches to the ends of the earth;(U)
your right hand is filled with righteousness.
11 Mount Zion rejoices,
the villages of Judah are glad
because of your judgments.(V)
12 Walk about Zion, go around her,
count her towers,(W)
13 consider well her ramparts,(X)
view her citadels,(Y)
that you may tell of them
to the next generation.(Z)
14 For this God is our God for ever and ever;
he will be our guide(AA) even to the end.

48 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised
In the (A)city of our God,
In His holy mountain.
2 (B)Beautiful in [a]elevation,
The joy of the whole earth,
Is Mount Zion on the sides of the north,
The city of the great King.
3 God is in her palaces;
He is known as her refuge.
4 For behold, (C)the kings assembled,
They passed by together.
5 They saw it, and so they marveled;
They were troubled, they hastened away.
6 Fear (D)took hold of them there,
And pain, as of a woman in birth pangs,
7 As when You break the (E)ships of Tarshish
With an east wind.
8 As we have heard,
So we have seen
In the city of the Lord of hosts,
In the city of our God:
God will (F)establish it forever. Selah
9 We have thought, O God, on (G)Your lovingkindness,
In the midst of Your temple.
10 According to (H)Your name, O God,
So is Your praise to the ends of the earth;
Your right hand is full of righteousness.
11 Let Mount Zion rejoice,
Let the daughters of Judah be glad,
Because of Your judgments.
12 Walk about Zion,
And go all around her.
Count her towers;
13 Mark well her bulwarks;
Consider her palaces;
That you may (I)tell it to the generation following.
14 For this is God,
Our God forever and ever;
