Psalm 47
Contemporary English Version
(A psalm by the clan of Korah and for the music leader.)
God Rules the Nations
1 All of you nations,
clap your hands and shout
joyful praises to God.
2 The Lord Most High is fearsome,
the ruler of all the earth.
3 God has put every nation
under our power,
4 and he chose for us the land
that was the pride of Jacob,
his favorite.
5 God goes up to his throne,
as people shout
and trumpets blast.
6 Sing praises to God our King,
7 the ruler of all the earth!
Praise God with songs.
8 God rules the nations
from his sacred throne.
9 Their leaders come together
and are now the people
of Abraham's God.
All rulers on earth
surrender their weapons,
and God is greatly praised!

Gott ist König!
47 Ein Lied der Nachkommen von Korach.
2 Freut euch und klatscht in die Hände, alle Völker!
Lobt Gott mit lauten Jubelrufen!
3 Denn der Herr ist der Höchste,
ein großer König über die ganze Welt. Alle müssen vor ihm erzittern!
4 Er gab uns den Sieg über fremde Völker
und machte uns zu Herrschern über sie.
5 Aus Liebe zu uns, den Nachkommen von Jakob,
wählte er das Land, in dem wir leben.
Dieses Erbe ist unser ganzer Stolz.
6 Gott, der Herr, ist auf seinen Thron gestiegen,
begleitet von Jubelrufen und dem Klang von Hörnern.
7 Singt zu Gottes Ehre, singt!
Singt zur Ehre unseres Königs! Ja, singt und musiziert!
8 Denn Gott ist König über die ganze Welt,
singt ihm ein neues Lied!
9 Ja, Gott ist König über alle Völker,
er sitzt auf seinem heiligen Thron.
10 Die Mächtigen der Erde versammeln sich
mit dem Volk, das sich zum Gott Abrahams bekennt[a].
Denn Gott gehören alle Könige der Welt,[b]
er allein ist hoch erhaben!

King James Version
47 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2 For the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
3 He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.
4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
5 God is gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.
9 The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.
