Psalm 47
1 Voor de leider van het koor. Een lied voor de Korachieten.[a]
2 Volken, klap in jullie handen!
Juich voor God met een blij lied!
3 Want de Allerhoogste Heer is een indrukwekkende God.
Hij heerst over de aarde,
een geweldige en machtige Koning.
4 Hij verslaat volken voor ons.
Hij overwint voor ons de landen.
5 Hij heeft ons dit land gegeven.
Het zal voor altijd ons eigendom zijn.
Het volk van Jakob is er trots op.
God houdt van zijn volk.
6 God is op zijn troon gaan zitten.
Iedereen juicht Hem toe.
Er wordt voor Hem op de ramshorens geblazen.
7 Zing voor God, zing voor Hem!
Zing liederen voor onze Koning!
8 Want God is de Koning van de hele aarde.
Zing een mooi lied voor Hem.
9 God regeert over de volken.
Hij zit op zijn heilige troon.
10 De koningen van de volken zijn gekomen.
Ook zij horen bij het volk van Abrahams God.
Want de koningen van de aarde zijn van God.
Hij is de allerhoogste Koning.

- Psalmen 47:1 De familie van Korach was één van de families uit de stam van Levi die dienst deden bij het heiligdom van de Heer. De Korachieten werkten daar als poortwachters en zangers.

47 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2 For the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
3 He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.
4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
5 God is gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.
9 The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.

the great King(E) over all the earth.
3 He subdued(F) nations under us,
peoples under our feet.

47 (B)Clap your hands, all peoples!
(C)Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
2 For the Lord, the Most High, (D)is to be feared,
(E)a great king over all the earth.
3 He (F)subdued peoples under us,
and nations under our feet.
4 He chose our (G)heritage for us,
(H)the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah
5 God (I)has gone up with a shout,
the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
7 For God is (J)the King of all the earth;
sing praises (K)with a psalm![a]
8 God (L)reigns over the nations;
God sits on his holy throne.
9 (M)The princes of the peoples gather
as the people of the God of Abraham.
For (N)the shields of the earth belong to God;
he is highly exalted!
