17 All this has come upon us, but we have (A)not forgotten You,
And we have not (B)dealt falsely with Your covenant.
18 Our heart has not (C)turned back,
And our steps (D)have not deviated from Your way,
19 Yet You have (E)crushed us in a place of (F)jackals
And covered us with [a](G)deep darkness.

20 If we had (H)forgotten the name of our God
Or extended our [b]hands to (I)a strange god,
21 Would God not (J)find this out?
For He knows the secrets of the heart.
22 But (K)for Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are regarded as (L)sheep to be slaughtered.
23 (M)Wake Yourself up, why (N)do You sleep, Lord?
Awake, (O)do not reject us forever.
24 Why do You (P)hide Your face
And (Q)forget our affliction and oppression?

Our bodies cling to the earth.
26 (S)Rise up, be our help,
And (T)redeem us because of Your mercy.
