Psalm 43[a]

Vindicate me, God, and champion my cause
against an unfaithful nation;
rescue me from the deceitful and unjust person.(A)
For you are the God of my refuge.
Why have you rejected me?
Why must I go about in sorrow
because of the enemy’s oppression?(B)

Send your light and your truth; let them lead me.(C)
Let them bring me to your holy mountain,
to your dwelling place.(D)
Then I will come to the altar of God,
to God, my greatest joy.(E)
I will praise you with the lyre,
God, my God.(F)

Why, my soul, are you so dejected?
Why are you in such turmoil?
Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him,
my Savior and my God.(G)

  1. 43:0 Many Hb mss connect Pss 42 and 43

43 Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

43 (A)[a]Fammi giustizia, o Dio,

difendi la mia causa contro gente malvagia;

liberami dall’uomo falso e malvagio.

Allora mi avvicinerò all’altare di Dio,

al Dio della mia gioia e della mia esultanza;

e ti celebrerò con la cetra, o Dio, Dio mio!

Perché ti abbatti, anima mia? Perché ti agiti in me?

Spera in Dio, perché lo celebrerò ancora;

egli è il mio salvatore e il mio Dio.
