Passover

16 “Observe the ^(A)month of Abib and keep the Passover to the Lord your God, for ^(B)in the month of Abib the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night. ² And you shall offer the Passover sacrifice to the Lord your God, from the flock or ^(C)the herd, ^(D)at the place that the Lord will choose, to make his name dwell there. ³ You shall eat no leavened bread with it. ^(E)Seven days you shall eat it with unleavened bread, the bread of affliction—for you came out of the land of Egypt ^(F)in haste—that all the days of your life you may remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt. ^4 (G)No leaven shall be seen with you in all your territory for seven days, ^(H)nor shall any of the flesh that you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain all night until morning. ⁵ You may not offer the Passover sacrifice within any of your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, ⁶ but at the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell in it, there you shall offer the Passover sacrifice, in the evening at sunset, at the time you came out of Egypt. ⁷ And you shall cook it and eat it at the place that the Lord your God will choose. And in the morning you shall turn and go to your tents. ⁸ For ^(I)six days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be ^(J)a solemn assembly to the Lord your God. You shall do no work on it.

The Feast of Weeks

^9 (K)“You shall count seven weeks. Begin to count the seven weeks from the time the sickle is first put to the standing grain. ¹⁰ Then you shall keep ^(L)the Feast of Weeks to the Lord your God with ^(M)the tribute of a freewill offering from your hand, which you shall give ^(N)as the Lord your God blesses you. ¹¹ And ^(O)you shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your towns, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are among you, at the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell there. ^12 (P)You shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt; and you shall be careful to observe these statutes.

The Feast of Booths

^13 (Q)“You shall keep the Feast of Booths seven days, when you have gathered in the produce from your threshing floor and your winepress. ^14 (R)You shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are within your towns. ¹⁵ For ^(S)seven days you shall keep the feast to the Lord your God at the place that the Lord will choose, because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful.

^16 (T)“Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord your God at the place that he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths. ^(U)They shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed. ¹⁷ Every man ^(V)shall give as he is able, ^(W)according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you.

Justice

¹⁸ “You shall appoint ^(X)judges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. ^19 (Y)You shall not pervert justice. ^(Z)You shall not show partiality, ^(AA)and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. ²⁰ Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

Forbidden Forms of Worship

²¹ “You shall not plant any tree as ^(AB)an Asherah beside the altar of the Lord your God that you shall make. ²² And you shall not set up a pillar, which the Lord your God hates.

17 ^(AC)“You shall not sacrifice to the Lord your God an ox or a sheep in which is a blemish, any defect whatever, for that is an abomination to the Lord your God.

^2 (AD)“If there is found among you, within any of your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, a man or woman who does what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, ^(AE)in transgressing his covenant, ³ and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or ^(AF)the sun or the moon or any of the host of heaven, ^(AG)which I have forbidden, ⁴ and it is told you and you hear of it, then you shall inquire ^(AH)diligently, and if it is true and certain that such an abomination has been done in Israel, ⁵ then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has done this evil thing, and you ^(AI)shall stone that man or woman to death with stones. ^6 (AJ)On the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses the one who is to die shall be put to death; a person shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness. ^7 (AK)The hand of the witnesses shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. So ^(AL)you shall purge^[a] the evil^[b] from your midst.

The Triumphal Entry

¹² The next day ^(A)the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. ¹³ So they took branches of ^(B)palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, ^(C)“Hosanna! Blessed is ^(D)he who comes in the name of the Lord, even ^(E)the King of Israel!” ¹⁴ And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written,

^16 (G)His disciples did not understand these things at first, but ^(H)when Jesus was glorified, then ^(I)they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him. ^17 (J)The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness. ¹⁸ The reason why the crowd went to meet him ^(K)was that they heard he had done this sign. ¹⁹ So the Pharisees said to one another, ^(L)“You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, ^(M)the world has gone after him.”

Some Greeks Seek Jesus

²⁰ Now ^(N)among those who went up to worship at the feast were some ^(O)Greeks. ²¹ So these came to ^(P)Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” ²² Philip went and told ^(Q)Andrew; Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. ²³ And Jesus answered them, ^(R)“The hour has come ^(S)for the Son of Man to be glorified. ²⁴ Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(T)unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. ^25 (U)Whoever loves his life loses it, and ^(V)whoever ^(W)hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. ²⁶ If anyone serves me, he must ^(X)follow me; and ^(Y)where I am, there will my servant be also. ^(Z)If anyone serves me, ^(AA)the Father will honor him.

The Son of Man Must Be Lifted Up

^27 (AB)“Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, ^(AC)save me from ^(AD)this hour’? But ^(AE)for this purpose I have come to ^(AF)this hour. ²⁸ Father, glorify your name.” Then ^(AG)a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” ²⁹ The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, ^(AH)“An angel has spoken to him.” ³⁰ Jesus answered, ^(AI)“This voice has come for your sake, not mine. ^31 (AJ)Now is the judgment of this world; now will ^(AK)the ruler of this world ^(AL)be cast out. ³² And I, ^(AM)when I am lifted up from the earth, ^(AN)will draw ^(AO)all people to myself.” ³³ He said this ^(AP)to show by what kind of death he was going to die. ³⁴ So the crowd answered him, “We have heard from the Law that ^(AQ)the Christ remains forever. How can you say that ^(AR)the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?” ³⁵ So Jesus said to them, ^(AS)“The light is among you ^(AT)for a little while longer. ^(AU)Walk while you have the light, lest darkness ^(AV)overtake you. ^(AW)The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. ³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become ^(AX)sons of light.”

The Unbelief of the People

When Jesus had said these things, he departed and hid himself from them.
