32 The wicked spies on the righteous
and seeks to kill him.
33 But the Lord does not abandon him in his power,
nor let him be condemned when tried.

and keep his way;(A)
He will raise you up to inherit the earth;
you will see when the wicked are cut off.

35 I have seen a ruthless scoundrel,
spreading out like a green cedar.(B)
36 When I passed by again, he was gone;
though I searched, he could not be found.

33 The Lord will not abandon him to his power,
or let him be condemned when he is brought to trial.
34 Wait for the Lord, and keep to his way,
and he will exalt you to possess the land;
you will look on the destruction of the wicked.
35 I have seen a wicked man overbearing,
and towering like a cedar of Lebanon.[a]
36 Again I[b] passed by, and lo, he was no more;
though I sought him, he could not be found.

32 Wicked people watch good people
and try to kill them;
33 but the Lord will not abandon them to their enemy's power
or let them be condemned when they are on trial.
34 Put your hope in the Lord and obey his commands;
he will honor you by giving you the land,
and you will see the wicked driven out.
35 I once knew someone wicked who was a tyrant;
he towered over everyone like a cedar of Lebanon;[a]
36 but later I[b] passed by, and he wasn't there;
I looked for him, but couldn't find him.
