for like the grass they will soon wither,(A)
    like green plants they will soon die away.(B)

Trust in the Lord and do good;
    dwell in the land(C) and enjoy safe pasture.(D)
Take delight(E) in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.(F)

Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him(G) and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward(H) shine like the dawn,(I)
    your vindication like the noonday sun.

Be still(J) before the Lord
    and wait patiently(K) for him;
do not fret(L) when people succeed in their ways,(M)
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.(N)

Refrain from anger(O) and turn from wrath;
    do not fret(P)—it leads only to evil.
