Psalm 35
International Children’s Bible
A Prayer for Help
Of David.
35 Lord, battle with those who battle with me.
Fight against those who fight against me.
2 Pick up the shield and armor.
Rise up and help me.
3 Lift up your spears, both large and small,
against those who chase me.
Tell me, “I will save you.”
4 Make those who want to kill me
be ashamed and disgraced.
Make those who plan to harm me
turn back and run away.
5 Make them like chaff blown by the wind.
Let the angel of the Lord chase them away.
6 Let their road be dark and slippery
as the angel of the Lord chases them.
7 For no reason they spread out their net to trap me.
For no reason they dug a pit for me.
8 So let ruin strike them suddenly.
Let them be caught in their own nets.
Let them fall into the pit and die.
9 Then I will rejoice in the Lord.
I will be happy when he saves me.
10 Even my bones will say,
“Lord, who is like you?
You save the weak from the strong.
You save the weak and poor from robbers.”
11 Men without mercy stand up to testify.
They ask me things I do not know.
12 They repay me with evil for the good I have done.
They make me very sad.
13 Yet when they were sick, I put on rough cloth to show my sadness.
I showed my sorrow by going without food.
But my prayers were not answered.
14 I acted as if they were my friends or brothers.
I bowed in sadness as if I were crying for my mother.
15 But when I was in trouble, they gathered and laughed.
They gathered to attack before I knew it.
They insulted me without stopping.
16 They made fun of me and were cruel to me.
They ground their teeth at me in anger.
17 Lord, how long will you watch this happen?
Save my life from their attacks.
Save me from these people who are like lions.
18 I will praise you in the great meeting.
I will praise you among crowds of people.
19 Do not let my enemies laugh at me.
They hate me for no reason.
Do not let them make fun of me.
They have no reason to hate me.
20 Their words are not friendly.
They think up lies about peace-loving people.
21 They speak against me.
They say, “Aha! We saw what you did!”
22 Lord, you have been watching. Do not keep quiet.
Lord, do not leave me alone.
23 Wake up! Come and defend me!
My God and Lord, fight for me!
24 Lord my God, defend me with your justice.
Don’t let them laugh at me.
25 Don’t let them think, “Aha! We got what we wanted!”
Don’t let them say, “We destroyed him.”
26 Let them be ashamed and embarrassed.
They were happy when I hurt.
Cover them with shame and disgrace.
They thought they were better than I was.
27 May my friends sing and shout for joy.
May they always say, “Praise the greatness of the Lord.
He loves to see his servants do well.”
28 I will tell of your goodness.
I will praise you every day.
Psalm 35
New King James Version
The Lord the Avenger of His People
A Psalm of David.
35 Plead[a] my cause, O Lord, with those who strive with me;
Fight against those who fight against me.
2 Take hold of shield and [b]buckler,
And stand up for my help.
3 Also draw out the spear,
And stop those who pursue me.
Say to my soul,
“I am your salvation.”
4 (A)Let those be put to shame and brought to dishonor
Who seek after my life;
Let those be (B)turned back and brought to confusion
Who plot my hurt.
5 (C)Let them be like chaff before the wind,
And let the [c]angel of the Lord chase them.
6 Let their way be (D)dark and slippery,
And let the angel of the Lord pursue them.
7 For without cause they have (E)hidden their net for me in a pit,
Which they have dug without cause for my life.
8 [d]Let (F)destruction come upon him unexpectedly,
And let his net that he has hidden catch himself;
Into that very destruction let him fall.
9 And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord;
It shall rejoice in His salvation.
10 (G)All my bones shall say,
“Lord, (H)who is like You,
Delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him,
Yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?”
11 Fierce witnesses rise up;
They ask me things that I do not know.
12 (I)They reward me evil for good,
To the sorrow of my soul.
13 But as for me, (J)when they were sick,
My clothing was sackcloth;
I humbled myself with fasting;
And my prayer would return to my own [e]heart.
14 I paced about as though he were my friend or brother;
I bowed down [f]heavily, as one who mourns for his mother.
15 But in my [g]adversity they rejoiced
And gathered together;
Attackers gathered against me,
And I did not know it;
They tore at me and did not cease;
16 With ungodly mockers at feasts
They gnashed at me with their teeth.
17 Lord, how long will You (K)look on?
Rescue me from their destructions,
My precious life from the lions.
18 I will give You thanks in the great assembly;
I will praise You among [h]many people.
19 (L)Let them not rejoice over me who are wrongfully my enemies;
Nor let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause.
20 For they do not speak peace,
But they devise deceitful matters
Against the quiet ones in the land.
21 They also opened their mouth wide against me,
And said, “Aha, aha!
Our eyes have seen it.”
22 This You have seen, O Lord;
Do not keep silence.
O Lord, do not be far from me.
23 Stir up Yourself, and awake to my vindication,
To my cause, my God and my Lord.
24 Vindicate me, O Lord my God, according to Your righteousness;
And let them not rejoice over me.
25 Let them not say in their hearts, “Ah, so we would have it!”
Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up.”
26 Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion
Who rejoice at my hurt;
Let them be (M)clothed with shame and dishonor
Who exalt themselves against me.
27 (N)Let them shout for joy and be glad,
Who favor my righteous cause;
And let them say continually,
“Let the Lord be magnified,
Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.”
28 And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness
And of Your praise all the day long.

Sòm 35
Haitian Creole Version
35 ¶ Se yon sòm David. Seyè, atake moun ki pa vle wè m' yo, goumen ak moun k'ap fè m' lagè yo.
2 Pran zam ou sèvi pou pare kou a, leve non, vin pote m' sekou.
3 Pran fwenn ou, pran rach ou. Atake moun k'ap pousib mwen yo. Fè m' konnen se ou menm k'ap delivre m'.
4 Se pou moun k'ap chache touye m' yo sezi, se pou yo wont. Se pou moun k'ap fè konplo sou mwen yo rale kò yo dèyè. Se pou yo pa ka leve tèt yo.
5 Se pou yo tankou pay van ap pote ale, lè zanj Bondye a ap kouri dèyè yo.
6 Se pou fènwa bare wout yo, pou chemen an glise anba pye yo, lè zanj Bondye a ap talonnen yo.
7 San m' pa fè yo anyen, y'ap tann pèlen pou mwen. San m' pa fè yo anyen, y'ap fouye yon twou byen fon pou m' ka tonbe ladan l'.
8 Men, y'ap rete konsa, malè ap tonbe sou yo, y'ap pran nan pèlen yo te tann lan, y'ap tonbe nan twou yo te fouye a.
9 Se konsa Seyè a pral fè kè m' kontan, m'ap kontan anpil, paske li delivre mwen.
10 M'a di ak tout kè mwen: -Seyè, pa gen tankou ou! Ou delivre fèb yo anba moun ki gen fòs pase yo. Ou delivre pòv yo ak malere yo anba moun k'ap piye yo.
11 ¶ Gen moun k'ap kanpe bay manti sou mwen. Yo di mwen fè yon pakèt bagay mwen pa janm konnen mwen fè.
12 Moun mwen fè byen se yo k'ap fè m' mal. Mwen fin dekouraje.
13 Lè yo te malad, mwen te pran gwo lapenn pou yo, mwen rete san manje. Mwen bese tèt mwen pou mwen lapriyè pou yo,
14 menm jan mwen ta lapriyè pou yon zanmi osinon pou yon frè. M'ap mache do ba ak gwo lapenn nan kè m', tankou yon moun ki pèdi manman l'.
15 Men, lè mwen menm mwen nan tray, yo tout yo kontan, yo mete tèt yo ansanm. Y'ap fè pil dèyè do m' pou bay manti sou mwen. Y'ap kale do m' san pran souf.
16 Yo atake m', yo pase m' nan betiz. Y'ap gade m', y'ap griyen dan sou mwen.
17 ¶ Seyè, pou konbe tan ankò w'a penmèt sa? Pwoteje m' non anba bèt sovaj sa yo. Sove m' anba lyon sa yo.
18 M'a di ou mèsi nan mitan tout moun lè yo reyini, m'a fè lwanj ou devan yon gwo foul moun.
19 Pa kite lènmi m' yo, bann mantò sa yo, fè fèt sou tèt mwen. Pa kite moun sa yo ki rayi m' san m' pa fè yo anyen an fè siy sou mwen.
20 Yo pale tankou moun k'ap chache kont. Y'ap kalkile tout kalite manti pou yo fè sou moun ki pa nan kont ak pesonn nan peyi a.
21 Yo louvri bouch yo byen laj pou bay manti sou mwen.
27 Se pou moun ki kontan wè jan m' inonsan an pran rele byen fò san rete. Se pou yo di: -Seyè a gen gwo pouvwa! Li vle pou sèvitè li viv ak kè poze.
28 Lè sa a, m'a fè konnen jistis ou, m'a fè lwanj ou tout lajounen.
