Psalm 34
Praise for Deliverance from Trouble
Of David, when he feigned madness before Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away.
1 I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.(A)
3 O magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together.(B)
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.(C)
5 Look to him, and be radiant,
so your[a] faces shall never be ashamed.(D)
6 This poor soul cried and was heard by the Lord
and was saved from every trouble.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him and delivers them.(E)
8 O taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him.(F)
9 O fear the Lord, you his holy ones,
for those who fear him have no want.(G)
10 The young lions suffer want and hunger,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.(H)
11 Come, O children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.(I)
12 Which of you desires life
and covets many days to enjoy good?(J)
13 Keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from speaking deceit.(K)
14 Depart from evil, and do good;
seek peace, and pursue it.(L)
15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their cry.(M)
16 The face of the Lord is against evildoers,
to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.(N)
17 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears
and rescues them from all their troubles.(O)
18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.(P)
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord rescues them from them all.(Q)
20 He keeps all their bones;
not one of them will be broken.(R)
21 Evil brings death to the wicked,
and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.(S)
22 The Lord redeems the life of his servants;
none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.(T)

34 (34:1) De David. Lorsqu'il contrefit l'insensé en présence d'Abimélec, et qu'il s'en alla chassé par lui. (34:2) Je bénirai l'Éternel en tout temps; Sa louange sera toujours dans ma bouche.
2 (34:3) Que mon âme se glorifie en l'Éternel! Que les malheureux écoutent et se réjouissent!
3 (34:4) Exaltez avec moi l'Éternel! Célébrons tous son nom!
4 (34:5) J'ai cherché l'Éternel, et il m'a répondu; Il m'a délivré de toutes mes frayeurs.
5 (34:6) Quand on tourne vers lui les regards, on est rayonnant de joie, Et le visage ne se couvre pas de honte.
6 (34:7) Quand un malheureux crie, l'Éternel entend, Et il le sauve de toutes ses détresses.
7 (34:8) L'ange de l'Éternel campe autour de ceux qui le craignent, Et il les arrache au danger.
8 (34:9) Sentez et voyez combien l'Éternel est bon! Heureux l'homme qui cherche en lui son refuge!
9 (34:10) Craignez l'Éternel, vous ses saints! Car rien ne manque à ceux qui le craignent.
10 (34:11) Les lionceaux éprouvent la disette et la faim, Mais ceux qui cherchent l'Éternel ne sont privés d'aucun bien.
11 (34:12) Venez, mes fils, écoutez-moi! Je vous enseignerai la crainte de l'Éternel.
12 (34:13) Quel est l'homme qui aime la vie, Qui désire la prolonger pour jouir du bonheur?
13 (34:14) Préserve ta langue du mal, Et tes lèvres des paroles trompeuses;
14 (34:15) Éloigne-toi du mal, et fais le bien; Recherche et poursuis la paix.
15 (34:16) Les yeux de l'Éternel sont sur les justes, Et ses oreilles sont attentives à leurs cris.
16 (34:17) L'Éternel tourne sa face contre les méchants, Pour retrancher de la terre leur souvenir.
17 (34:18) Quand les justes crient, l'Éternel entend, Et il les délivre de toutes leurs détresses;
18 (34:19) L'Éternel est près de ceux qui ont le coeur brisé, Et il sauve ceux qui ont l'esprit dans l'abattement.
19 (34:20) Le malheur atteint souvent le juste, Mais l'Éternel l'en délivre toujours.
20 (34:21) Il garde tous ses os, Aucun d'eux n'est brisé.
21 (34:22) Le malheur tue le méchant, Et les ennemis du juste sont châtiés.
22 (34:23) L'Éternel délivre l'âme de ses serviteurs, Et tous ceux qui l'ont pour refuge échappent au châtiment.

8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
9 O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.
11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
22 The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.

5 They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces were not ashamed.
6 This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
