Psalm 33:12-22

¹²^(A)Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has ^(B)chosen as his heritage!

¹³The Lord ^(C)looks down from heaven;
    he sees all the children of man;
¹⁴from ^(D)where he sits enthroned he ^(E)looks out
    on all the inhabitants of the earth,
¹⁵he who fashions the hearts of them all
    and observes all their deeds.
¹⁶^(F)The king is not saved by his great army;
    a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
¹⁷^(G)The war horse is a false hope for salvation,
    and by its great might it cannot rescue.

¹⁸Behold, ^(H)the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
^(I)on those who hope in his steadfast love,
¹⁹that he may ^(J)deliver their soul from death
and keep them alive in ^(K)famine.

²⁰Our soul ^(L)waits for the Lord;
    he is our ^(M)help and ^(N)our shield.
²¹For our heart is ^(O)glad in him,
    because we ^(P)trust in his holy name.
²²Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,
    even as we hope in you.

¹⁶On the morning of the ^(A)third day there were ^(B)thunders and lightnings and ^(C)a thick cloud on the mountain and a very loud ^(D)trumpet blast, so that all the people in the camp ^(E)trembled. ¹⁷Then ^(F)Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they took their stand at the foot of the mountain. ¹⁸Now ^(G)Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and ^(H)the whole mountain trembled greatly. ¹⁹And as the ^(I)sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and ^(J)God answered him in thunder. ²⁰The Lord came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

²¹And the Lord said to Moses, “Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to the Lord ^(K)to look and many of them perish. ²²Also let the priests who come near to the Lord ^(L)consecrate themselves, lest the Lord ^(M)break out against them.” ²³And Moses said to the Lord, “The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai, for you yourself warned us, saying, ^(N)‘Set limits around the mountain and consecrate it.’” ²⁴And the Lord said to him, “Go down, and come up bringing Aaron with you. But do not let the priests and the people ^(O)break through to come up to the Lord, lest he break out against them.” ²⁵So Moses went down to the people and told them.
