Blessed Are the Forgiven

32 ^(A)Blessed is the one whose ^(B)transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
²Blessed is the man against whom the Lord ^(C)counts no iniquity,
and in whose spirit ^(D)there is no deceit.

³For when I kept silent, my ^(E)bones wasted away
through my ^(F)groaning all day long.
⁴For day and night your ^(G)hand was heavy upon me;
my strength was dried up^[b] as by the heat of summer. Selah

⁵I ^(H)acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I ^(I)will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

⁶Therefore let everyone who is ^(J)godly
    offer prayer to you at a time when you ^(K)may be found;
surely in the rush of ^(L)great waters,
    they shall not reach him.
⁷You are a ^(M)hiding place for me;
    you preserve me from ^(N)trouble;
    you surround me with ^(O)shouts of deliverance. Selah

⁸I will ^(P)instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will ^(Q)counsel you with my eye upon you.
⁹^(R)Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
    which must be curbed with ^(S)bit and bridle,
    or it will not stay near you.

¹⁰^(T)Many are the sorrows of the wicked,
but steadfast love surrounds the one who ^(U)trusts in the Lord.
¹¹^(V)Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous,
and ^(W)shout for joy, all you ^(X)upright in heart!

How Precious Is Your Steadfast Love

To the choirmaster. Of David, the ^(A)servant of the Lord.

36 Transgression speaks to the wicked
    deep in his heart;^[a]
^(B)there is no fear of God
    before his eyes.
²^(C)For he flatters himself in his own eyes
    that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated.
³The words of his mouth are ^(D)trouble and deceit;
    ^(E)he has ceased to act wisely and do good.
⁴He ^(F)plots ^(G)trouble while on his bed;
    he sets himself in ^(H)a way that is not good;
    ^(I)he does not reject evil.

⁵Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
    your faithfulness to the clouds.
⁶^(J)Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
    ^(K)your judgments are like the great deep;
    man and beast you ^(L)save, O Lord.

⁷^(M)How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
    The children of mankind take refuge ^(N)in the shadow of your wings.
⁸They feast on ^(O)the abundance of your house,
    and you give them drink from ^(P)the river of ^(Q)your delights.
⁹For with you is ^(R)the fountain of life;
    ^(S)in your light do we see light.

¹⁰Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who ^(T)know you,
    and your righteousness to ^(U)the upright of heart!
¹¹Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me,
    nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.

Passover

16 “Observe the ^(A)month of Abib and keep the Passover to the Lord your God, for ^(B)in the month of Abib the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night. ²And you shall offer the Passover sacrifice to the Lord your God, from the flock or ^(C)the herd, ^(D)at the place that the Lord will choose, to make his name dwell there. ³You shall eat no leavened bread with it. ^(E)Seven days you shall eat it with unleavened bread, the bread of affliction—for you came out of the land of Egypt ^(F)in haste—that all the days of your life you may remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt. ⁴^(G)No leaven shall be seen with you in all your territory for seven days, ^(H)nor shall any of the flesh that you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain all night until morning. ⁵You may not offer the Passover sacrifice within any of your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, ⁶but at the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell in it, there you shall offer the Passover sacrifice, in the evening at sunset, at the time you came out of Egypt. ⁷And you shall cook it and eat it at the place that the Lord your God will choose. And in the morning you shall turn and go to your tents. ⁸For ^(I)six days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be ^(J)a solemn assembly to the Lord your God. You shall do no work on it.

The Feast of Weeks

⁹^(K)“You shall count seven weeks. Begin to count the seven weeks from the time the sickle is first put to the standing grain. ¹⁰Then you shall keep ^(L)the Feast of Weeks to the Lord your God with ^(M)the tribute of a freewill offering from your hand, which you shall give ^(N)as the Lord your God blesses you. ¹¹And ^(O)you shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your towns, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are among you, at the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell there. ¹²^(P)You shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt; and you shall be careful to observe these statutes.

The Feast of Booths

¹³^(Q)“You shall keep the Feast of Booths seven days, when you have gathered in the produce from your threshing floor and your winepress. ¹⁴^(R)You shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are within your towns. ¹⁵For ^(S)seven days you shall keep the feast to the Lord your God at the place that the Lord will choose, because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful.

¹⁶^(T)“Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord your God at the place that he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths. ^(U)They shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed. ¹⁷Every man ^(V)shall give as he is able, ^(W)according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you.

Justice

¹⁸“You shall appoint ^(X)judges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. ¹⁹^(Y)You shall not pervert justice. ^(Z)You shall not show partiality, ^(AA)and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. ²⁰Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

²¹“You shall not plant any tree as ^(AB)an Asherah beside the altar of the Lord your God that you shall make. ²²And you shall not set up a pillar, which the Lord your God hates.

Luke 9:1-17

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Apostles

9 ^(A)And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, ²^(B)and he sent them out to ^(C)proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. ³^(D)And he said to them, “Take nothing for your journey, ^(E)no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not have two tunics.^[a] ⁴And whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. ⁵And wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that town ^(F)shake off the dust from your feet ^(G)as a testimony ^(H)against them.” ⁶^(I)And they departed and went through the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.

Herod Is Perplexed by Jesus

⁷^(J)Now ^(K)Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that ^(L)John had been raised from the dead, ⁸^(M)by some that Elijah had appeared, and ^(N)by others that one of the prophets of old had risen. ⁹Herod said, “John I beheaded, but who is this about whom I hear such things?” And ^(O)he sought to see him.

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand

¹⁰On their return ^(P)the apostles told him all that they had done. ^(Q)And he took them and withdrew apart to a town called Bethsaida. ¹¹When the crowds learned it, they followed him, and he ^(R)welcomed them and ^(S)spoke to them of the kingdom of God and ^(T)cured those who had need of healing. ¹²Now ^(U)the day began to wear away, and the twelve came and said to him, ^(V)“Send the crowd away to go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find lodging and get provisions, for we are here in a desolate place.” ¹³But he said to them, ^(W)“You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than ^(X)five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.” ¹⁴For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” ¹⁵And they did so, and had them all sit down. ¹⁶And taking the five loaves and the two fish, ^(Y)he looked up to heaven and ^(Z)said a blessing over them. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. ¹⁷And they all ate and were satisfied. And what was left over was picked up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.
