Psalm 31
Common English Bible
Psalm 31
For the music leader. A psalm of David.
31 I take refuge in you, Lord.
Please never let me be put to shame.
Rescue me by your righteousness!
2 Listen closely to me!
Deliver me quickly;
be a rock that protects me;
be a strong fortress that saves me!
3 You are definitely my rock and my fortress.
Guide me and lead me for the sake of your good name!
4 Get me out of this net that’s been set for me
because you are my protective fortress.
5 I entrust my spirit into your hands;
you, Lord, God of faithfulness—
you have saved me.
6 I hate those who embrace what is completely worthless.
I myself trust the Lord.
7 I rejoice and celebrate in your faithful love
because you saw my suffering—
you were intimately acquainted with my deep distress.
8 You didn’t hand me over to the enemy,
but set my feet in wide-open spaces.
9 Have mercy on me, Lord, because I’m depressed.
My vision fails because of my grief,
as do my spirit and my body.
10 My life is consumed with sadness;
my years are consumed with groaning.
Strength fails me because of my suffering;[a]
my bones dry up.
11 I’m a joke to all my enemies,
still worse to my neighbors.
I scare my friends,
and whoever sees me in the street runs away!
12 I am forgotten, like I’m dead,
completely out of mind;
I am like a piece of pottery, destroyed.
13 Yes, I’ve heard all the gossiping,
terror all around;
so many gang up together against me,
they plan to take my life!
14 But me? I trust you, Lord!
I affirm, “You are my God.”
15 My future is in your hands.
Don’t hand me over to my enemies,
to all who are out to get me!
16 Shine your face on your servant;
save me by your faithful love!
17 Lord, don’t let me be put to shame
because I have cried out to you.
Let the wicked be put to shame;
let them be silenced in death’s domain![b]
18 Let their lying lips be shut up
whenever they speak arrogantly
against the righteous with pride and contempt!
19 How great is the goodness
that you’ve reserved for those who honor you,
that you commit to those who take refuge in you—
in the sight of everyone!
20 You hide them in the shelter of your wings,[c]
safe from human scheming.
You conceal them in a shelter,
safe from accusing tongues.
21 Bless the Lord,
because he has wondrously revealed
his faithful love to me
when I was like a city under siege!
22 When I was panicked, I said,
“I’m cut off from your eyes!”
But you heard my request for mercy
when I cried out to you for help.
23 All you who are faithful, love the Lord!
The Lord protects those who are loyal,
but he pays the proud back to the fullest degree.
24 All you who wait for the Lord,
be strong and let your heart take courage.

Psalm 31
New King James Version
The Lord a Fortress in Adversity
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
31 In (A)You, O Lord, I [a]put my trust;
Let me never be ashamed;
Deliver me in Your righteousness.
2 (B)Bow down Your ear to me,
Deliver me speedily;
Be my rock of [b]refuge,
A [c]fortress of defense to save me.
3 (C)For You are my rock and my fortress;
Therefore, (D)for Your name’s sake,
Lead me and guide me.
4 Pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me,
For You are my strength.
5 (E)Into Your hand I commit my spirit;
You have redeemed me, O Lord God of (F)truth.
6 I have hated those (G)who regard useless idols;
But I trust in the Lord.
7 I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy,
For You have considered my trouble;
You have (H)known my soul in [d]adversities,
8 And have not (I)shut[e] me up into the hand of the enemy;
(J)You have set my feet in a wide place.
9 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am in trouble;
(K)My eye wastes away with grief,
Yes, my soul and my [f]body!
10 For my life is spent with grief,
And my years with sighing;
My strength fails because of my iniquity,
And my bones waste away.
11 (L)I am a [g]reproach among all my enemies,
But (M)especially among my neighbors,
And am repulsive to my acquaintances;
(N)Those who see me outside flee from me.
12 (O)I am forgotten like a dead man, out of mind;
I am like a [h]broken vessel.
13 (P)For I hear the slander of many;
(Q)Fear is on every side;
While they (R)take counsel together against me,
They scheme to take away my life.
14 But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord;
I say, “You are my God.”
15 My times are in Your (S)hand;
Deliver me from the hand of my enemies,
And from those who persecute me.
16 (T)Make Your face shine upon Your servant;
Save me for Your mercies’ sake.
17 (U)Do not let me be ashamed, O Lord, for I have called upon You;
Let the wicked be ashamed;
(V)Let them be silent in the grave.
18 (W)Let the lying lips be put to silence,
Which (X)speak insolent things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
19 (Y)Oh, how great is Your goodness,
Which You have laid up for those who fear You,
Which You have prepared for those who trust in You
In the presence of the sons of men!
20 (Z)You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence
From the plots of man;
(AA)You shall keep them secretly in a [i]pavilion
From the strife of tongues.
21 Blessed be the Lord,
For (AB)He has shown me His marvelous kindness in a [j]strong city!
22 For I said in my haste,
“I am cut off from before Your eyes”;
Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications
When I cried out to You.
23 Oh, love the Lord, all you His saints!
For the Lord preserves the faithful,
And fully repays the proud person.
24 (AC)Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart,
All you who hope in the Lord.

Salmos 31
Nueva Versión Internacional (Castilian)
(A)Al director musical. Salmo de David.
31 En ti, Señor, busco refugio;
jamás permitas que me avergüencen;
en tu justicia, líbrame.
2 Inclina a mí tu oído,
y acude pronto a socorrerme.
Sé tú mi roca protectora,
la fortaleza de mi salvación.
3 Guíame, pues eres mi roca y mi fortaleza,
dirígeme por amor a tu nombre.
4 Líbrame de la trampa que me han tendido,
porque tú eres mi refugio.
5 En tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu;
líbrame, Señor, Dios de la verdad.
6 Odio a los que veneran ídolos vanos;
yo, por mi parte, confío en ti, Señor.
7 Me alegro y me regocijo en tu amor,
porque tú has visto mi aflicción
y conoces las angustias de mi alma.
8 No me entregaste al enemigo,
sino que me pusiste en lugar espacioso.
9 Ten compasión de mí, Señor, que estoy angustiado;
el dolor está acabando con mis ojos,
con mi alma, ¡con mi cuerpo!
10 La vida se me va en angustias,
y los años, en lamentos;
la tristeza está acabando con mis fuerzas,
y mis huesos se van debilitando.
11 A causa de todos mis enemigos,
soy el hazmerreír de mis vecinos;
soy un espanto para mis amigos;
de mí huyen los que me encuentran en la calle.
12 Me han olvidado, como si hubiera muerto;
soy como una vasija hecha pedazos.
13 Son muchos a los que oigo cuchichear:
«Hay terror por todas partes».
Se han confabulado contra mí,
y traman quitarme la vida.
14 Pero yo, Señor, confío en ti,
y digo: «Tú eres mi Dios».
15 Mi vida entera está en tus manos;
líbrame de mis enemigos y perseguidores.
16 Que tu faz irradie luz sobre tu siervo;
por tu gran amor, sálvame.
17 Señor, no permitas que me avergüencen,
porque a ti he clamado.
de las intrigas humanas;
en tu morada los resguardas
de las lenguas contenciosas.
21 Bendito sea el Señor,
pues mostró su gran amor por mí
cuando me hallaba en una ciudad sitiada.
22 En mi confusión llegué a decir:
«¡He sido arrojado de tu presencia!»
Pero tú oíste mi voz suplicante
cuando te pedí que me ayudaras.
23 Amad al Señor, todos sus fieles;
él protege a los dignos de confianza,
pero a los orgullosos les da su merecido.
24 Cobrad ánimo y armaos de valor,
todos los que en el Señor esperáis.
