Joy Comes with the Morning
A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of (A)the temple.
30 I will (B)extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes (C)rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I (D)cried to you for help,
and you have (E)healed me.
3 O Lord, you have brought up my soul from (F)Sheol;
you restored me to life from among those who (G)go down to the pit.[a]
4 Sing praises to the Lord, O you (H)his saints,
and (I)give thanks to his holy name.[b]
5 (J)For his anger is but for a moment,
and (K)his favor is for a lifetime.[c]
(L)Weeping may tarry for the night,
but (M)joy comes with the morning.
6 As for me, I said in my (N)prosperity,
“I shall never be (O)moved.”
7 By your favor, O Lord,
you made my (P)mountain stand strong;
you (Q)hid your face;
I was (R)dismayed.
8 To you, O Lord, I cry,
and (S)to the Lord I plead for mercy:
9 “What profit is there in my death,[d]
if I go down to the pit?[e]
Will (T)the dust praise you?
Will it tell of your faithfulness?
10 (U)Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
O Lord, be my helper!”
11 You have turned for me my mourning into (V)dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
12 that my (W)glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

30 «Salmo. Cantico per l'inaugurazione della casa di Davide» Ti esalterò, o Eterno, perché tu mi hai tratto in alto, e non hai permesso che i miei nemici si rallegrassero di me.
2 O Eterno, mio Dio ho gridato a te e tu mi hai guarito.
3 O Eterno, tu hai fatto risalire l'anima mia fuori dallo Sceol, mi hai tenuto in vita perché non scendessi nella fossa.
4 Cantate lodi all'Eterno, voi suoi santi, e celebrate la sua SANTITA
5 perché la sua ira dura solo un momento, ma la sua benignità dura tutta una vita. Il pianto può durare per una notte, ma al mattino erompe un grido di gioia.
6 Nella mia prosperità dicevo: «non sarò mai smosso».
7 O Eterno per il tuo favore, avevi reso forte il mio monte; tu nascondesti la tua faccia, e io rimasi smarrito.
8 Io ho gridato a te, o Eterno, ho supplicato l'Eterno,
9 dicendo: «Che utilità avrai dal mio sangue, se scendo nella fossa? Potrà forse la polvere celebrarti? Potrà essa proclamare la tua verità?
10 Ascolta, o Eterno, e abbi pietà di me; o Eterno, sii tu il mio aiuto».
11 Tu hai mutato il mio lamento in danza; hai rimosso il mio cilicio, e mi hai rivestito di gioia,
12 affinché la mia anima possa cantare gloria a te senza posa. O Eterno, DIO mio, io ti celebrerò per sempre.

30 I will extol You, O Lord, for You have (B)lifted me up,
And have not let my foes (C)rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried out to You,
And You (D)healed me.
3 O Lord, (E)You brought my soul up from the grave;
You have kept me alive, [a]that I should not go down to the pit.
4 (F)Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His,
And give thanks at the remembrance of [b]His holy name.
5 For (G)His anger is but for a moment,
(H)His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But [c]joy comes in the morning.
6 Now in my prosperity I said,
“I shall never be [d]moved.”
7 Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong;
(I)You hid Your face, and I was troubled.
8 I cried out to You, O Lord;
And to the Lord I made supplication:
9 “What profit is there in my blood,
When I go down to the pit?

Will it declare Your truth?
10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me;
Lord, be my helper!”
