Gejagt – und doch geborgen!
3 Ein Lied von David aus der Zeit, als er vor seinem Sohn Absalom fliehen musste.
2 O Herr, ich werde von vielen Feinden bedrängt!
Sie haben sich gegen mich verschworen
3 und spotten: »Der ist erledigt!
Auch Gott wird ihm nicht mehr helfen!«[a]
4 Aber du, Herr, nimmst mich in Schutz.
Du stellst meine Ehre wieder her und richtest mich auf.
5 Laut schreie ich zum Herrn um Hilfe.
Er hört mich auf seinem heiligen Berg und antwortet mir.
6 So kann ich beruhigt einschlafen
und am Morgen in Sicherheit erwachen,
denn der Herr beschützt mich.
7 Ich fürchte mich nicht vor meinen Feinden,
auch wenn sie mich zu Tausenden umzingeln.
8 Greif ein, Herr, und rette mich! Du bist doch mein Gott!
Du wirst meinen Feinden ins Gesicht schlagen
und diesen Gottlosen die Zähne ausbrechen.
9 Ja, Herr, von dir kommt Rettung und Hilfe.
Lass dein Volk deinen Segen erfahren!

- 3,3 Im hebräischen Text steht hier und an vielen weiteren Stellen in den Psalmen noch das Wort »Sela«. Vermutlich handelt es sich dabei um eine musikalische Anweisung, die genaue Bedeutung ist jedoch unsicher. Man könnte zum Beispiel an ein Lauterwerden der Instrumente oder an ein musikalisches Zwischenspiel denken.

A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.(A)
1 Lord, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
“God will not deliver him.(B)”[b]
3 But you, Lord, are a shield(C) around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.(D)
4 I call out to the Lord,(E)
and he answers me from his holy mountain.(F)
5 I lie down and sleep;(G)
I wake again,(H) because the Lord sustains me.
6 I will not fear(I) though tens of thousands
assail me on every side.(J)

2 (1) Adonai, how many enemies I have!
How countless are those attacking me;
3 (2) how countless those who say of me,
“There is no salvation for him in God.” (Selah)
4 (3) But you, Adonai, are a shield for me;
you are my glory, you lift my head high.
5 (4) With my voice I call out to Adonai,
and he answers me from his holy hill. (Selah)
6 (5) I lie down and sleep, then wake up again,
because Adonai sustains me.
7 (6) I am not afraid of the tens of thousands
set against me on every side.
8 (7) Rise up, Adonai!
Save me, my God!
For you slap all my enemies in the face,
you smash the teeth of the wicked.
9 (8) Victory comes from Adonai;
may your blessing rest on your people. (Selah)
