Psalm 28:3-33:22

³ Do not ^(A)drag me off with the wicked,
    with the workers of evil,
^(B)who speak peace with their neighbors
    while evil is in their hearts.
^4 (C)Give to them according to their work
    and according to the evil of their deeds;
give to them according to the work of their hands;
    ^(D)render them their due reward.
⁵ Because they ^(E)do not regard the works of the Lord
    or the work of his hands,
he will tear them down and build them up no more.

⁶ Blessed be the Lord!
    For he has ^(F)heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
⁷ The Lord is my strength and ^(G)my shield;
    in him my heart ^(H)trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
    and with my ^(I)song I give thanks to him.

⁸ The Lord is the strength of his people;^[a]
    he is ^(J)the saving refuge of his anointed.
⁹ Oh, save your people and bless ^(K)your heritage!
    ^(L)Be their shepherd and ^(M)carry them forever.

³ The voice of the Lord is over ^(P)the waters;
    the God of glory ^(Q)thunders,
    the Lord, over many waters.
⁴ The voice of the Lord is ^(R)powerful;
    the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

⁵ The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
    the Lord breaks ^(S)the cedars of Lebanon.
⁶ He makes Lebanon to ^(T)skip like a calf,
    and ^(U)Sirion like a young ^(V)wild ox.

⁷ The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.
⁸ The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
    the Lord shakes the wilderness of ^(W)Kadesh.

⁹ The voice of the Lord makes ^(X)the deer give birth^[d]
    and strips the forests bare,
    and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

¹⁰ The Lord sits enthroned over ^(Y)the flood;
    the Lord sits enthroned ^(Z)as king forever.
¹¹ May the Lord give ^(AA)strength to his people!
    May the Lord bless^[e] his people with ^(AB)peace!

⁴ Sing praises to the Lord, O you ^(AJ)his saints,
    and ^(AK)give thanks to his holy name.^[g]
5 (AL)For his anger is but for a moment,
    and ^(AM)his favor is for a lifetime.^[h]
(AN)Weeping may tarry for the night,
    but ^(AO)joy comes with the morning.

⁶ As for me, I said in my ^(AP)prosperity,
    “I shall never be ^(AQ)moved.”
⁷ By your favor, O Lord,
    you made my ^(AR)mountain stand strong;
you ^(AS)hid your face;
    I was ^(AT)dismayed.

⁸ To you, O Lord, I cry,
    and ^(AU)to the Lord I plead for mercy:
⁹ “What profit is there in my death,^[i]
    if I go down to the pit?^[j]
Will ^(AV)the dust praise you?
    Will it tell of your faithfulness?
^10 (AW)Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
    O Lord, be my helper!”

¹¹ You have turned for me my mourning into ^(AX)dancing;
    you have loosed my sackcloth
    and clothed me with gladness,
¹² that my ^(AY)glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
    O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

³ For you are my rock and my fortress;
    and for your ^(BF)name's sake you lead me and guide me;
⁴ you ^(BG)take me out of ^(BH)the net they have hidden for me,
    for you are my ^(BI)refuge.
^5 (BJ)Into your hand I commit my spirit;
    you have redeemed me, O Lord, ^(BK)faithful God.

⁶ I ^(BL)hate^[k] those who pay ^(BM)regard to worthless ^(BN)idols,
    but I trust in the Lord.
⁷ I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love,
    because you have seen my affliction;
    you have ^(BO)known the distress of my soul,
⁸ and you have not ^(BP)delivered me into the hand of the enemy;
    you have set my feet in ^(BQ)a broad place.

⁹ Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am ^(BR)in distress;
    ^(BS)my eye is wasted from grief;
    my soul and my body also.
¹⁰ For my life is spent with sorrow,
    and my years with sighing;
my strength fails because of my iniquity,
    and ^(BT)my bones waste away.

¹¹ Because of all my adversaries I have become ^(BU)a reproach,
    especially to my ^(BV)neighbors,
and an object of dread to my acquaintances;
    those who see me in the street ^(BW)flee from me.
¹² I have been ^(BX)forgotten like one who is dead;
    I have become like ^(BY)a broken vessel.
¹³ For I ^(BZ)hear the whispering of many—
    terror on every side!—
^(CA)as they scheme together against me,
    as they plot to take my life.

¹⁴ But I ^(CB)trust in you, O Lord;
    I say, “You are my God.”
¹⁵ My ^(CC)times are in your hand;
    ^(CD)rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!
^16 (CE)Make your face shine on your servant;
    save me in your steadfast love!
¹⁷ O Lord, ^(CF)let me not be put to shame,
    for I call upon you;
let the wicked be put to shame;
    let them go ^(CG)silently to Sheol.
¹⁸ Let the lying lips be mute,
    which ^(CH)speak ^(CI)insolently against the righteous
    in pride and contempt.

¹⁹ Oh, how abundant is your goodness,
    which you have stored up for those who fear you
and worked for those who take refuge in you,
    ^(CJ)in the sight of the children of mankind!
²⁰ In ^(CK)the cover of your presence you hide them
    from the plots of men;
you ^(CL)store them in your shelter
    from the strife of tongues.

²¹ Blessed be the Lord,
    for he has wondrously ^(CM)shown his steadfast love to me
    when I was in ^(CN)a besieged city.
²² I had said in my ^(CO)alarm,^[l]
    “I am ^(CP)cut off from ^(CQ)your sight.”
But you heard the voice of my pleas for mercy
    when I cried to you for help.

²³ Love the Lord, all you his ^(CR)saints!
    The Lord preserves the faithful
    but abundantly ^(CS)repays the one who acts in pride.
^24 (CT)Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
    all you who wait for the Lord!

³ For when I kept silent, my ^(CY)bones wasted away
    through my ^(CZ)groaning all day long.
⁴ For day and night your ^(DA)hand was heavy upon me;
    my strength was dried up^[n] as by the heat of summer. Selah

⁵ I ^(DB)acknowledged my sin to you,
    and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I ^(DC)will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
    and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

⁶ Therefore let everyone who is ^(DD)godly
    offer prayer to you at a time when you ^(DE)may be found;
surely in the rush of ^(DF)great waters,
    they shall not reach him.
⁷ You are a ^(DG)hiding place for me;
    you preserve me from ^(DH)trouble;
    you surround me with ^(DI)shouts of deliverance. Selah

⁸ I will ^(DJ)instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will ^(DK)counsel you with my eye upon you.
^9 (DL)Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
    which must be curbed with ^(DM)bit and bridle,
    or it will not stay near you.

^10 (DN)Many are the sorrows of the wicked,
    but steadfast love surrounds the one who ^(DO)trusts in the Lord.
^11 (DP)Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous,
    and ^(DQ)shout for joy, all you ^(DR)upright in heart!

⁴ For the word of the Lord is upright,
    and all his work is done in ^(DY)faithfulness.
⁵ He ^(DZ)loves righteousness and justice;
    ^(EA)the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.

⁶ By ^(EB)the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
    and by ^(EC)the breath of his mouth all ^(ED)their host.
⁷ He gathers the waters of the sea as ^(EE)a heap;
    he ^(EF)puts the deeps in storehouses.

⁸ Let all the earth fear the Lord;
    let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!
⁹ For ^(EG)he spoke, and it came to be;
    he commanded, and it stood firm.

¹⁰ The Lord ^(EH)brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
    he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
^11 (EI)The counsel of the Lord stands forever,
    the plans of his heart to all generations.
^12 (EJ)Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
    the people whom he has ^(EK)chosen as his heritage!

¹³ The Lord ^(EL)looks down from heaven;
    he sees all the children of man;
¹⁴ from ^(EM)where he sits enthroned he ^(EN)looks out
    on all the inhabitants of the earth,
¹⁵ he who fashions the hearts of them all
    and observes all their deeds.
^16 (EO)The king is not saved by his great army;
    a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
^17 (EP)The war horse is a false hope for salvation,
    and by its great might it cannot rescue.

¹⁸ Behold, ^(EQ)the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
    ^(ER)on those who hope in his steadfast love,
¹⁹ that he may ^(ES)deliver their soul from death
    and keep them alive in ^(ET)famine.

²⁰ Our soul ^(EU)waits for the Lord;
    he is our ^(EV)help and ^(EW)our shield.
²¹ For our heart is ^(EX)glad in him,
    because we ^(EY)trust in his holy name.
²² Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,
    even as we hope in you.
