Psalm 27
English Standard Version
The Lord Is My Light and My Salvation
Of David.
27 The Lord is my (A)light and my (B)salvation;
(C)whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold[a] of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When evildoers assail me
to (D)eat up my flesh,
my adversaries and foes,
it is they who stumble and fall.
3 (E)Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet[b] I will be confident.
4 (F)One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
that I may (G)dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon (H)the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire[c] in his temple.
5 For he will (I)hide me in his shelter
in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
he will (J)lift me high upon a rock.
6 And now my (K)head shall be lifted up
above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of (L)joy;
(M)I will sing and make melody to the Lord.
7 (N)Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud;
be gracious to me and answer me!
8 You have said, (O)“Seek[d] my face.”
My heart says to you,
“Your face, Lord, do I seek.”[e]
9 (P)Hide not your face from me.
Turn not your servant away in anger,
O you who have been my help.
Cast me not off; forsake me not,
(Q)O God of my salvation!
10 For (R)my father and my mother have forsaken me,
but the Lord will (S)take me in.
11 (T)Teach me your way, O Lord,
and lead me on (U)a level path
because of my enemies.
12 (V)Give me not up to the will of my adversaries;
for (W)false witnesses have risen against me,
and they (X)breathe out violence.
13 I believe that I shall look[f] upon (Y)the goodness of the Lord
in (Z)the land of the living!
14 (AA)Wait for the Lord;
(AB)be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the Lord!

27 De David.
L’Eternel est ma lumière et mon salut:
de qui aurais-je peur?
L’Eternel est le soutien de ma vie:
qui devrais-je redouter?
2 Quand des méchants s’avancent contre moi
pour faire de moi leur proie,
ce sont eux, mes persécuteurs et mes ennemis,
qui trébuchent et tombent.
3 Si une armée prend position contre moi,
mon cœur n’éprouve aucune crainte.
Si une guerre s’élève contre moi,
je reste malgré cela plein de confiance.
4 Je demande à l’Eternel une chose, que je désire ardemment:
je voudrais habiter toute ma vie dans la maison de l’Eternel,
pour contempler la beauté de l’Eternel
et pour admirer son temple,
5 car il me protégera dans son tabernacle, le jour du malheur,
il me cachera sous l’abri de sa tente,
il m’élèvera sur un rocher.
6 Déjà ma tête se dresse au-dessus des ennemis qui m’entourent.
J’offrirai des sacrifices dans sa tente avec des cris de joie,
je chanterai, je célébrerai l’Eternel.
7 Eternel, écoute ma voix, car je fais appel à toi,
aie pitié de moi et exauce-moi!
8 Mon cœur dit de ta part:
«Recherchez-moi!»
Je te recherche, Eternel!
9 Ne me cache pas ton visage,
ne repousse pas avec colère ton serviteur!
Tu es mon secours: ne me laisse pas, ne m’abandonne pas,
Dieu de mon salut!
10 Même si mon père et ma mère viennent à m’abandonner,
l’Eternel m’accueillera.
11 Eternel, enseigne-moi ta voie,
conduis-moi dans le sentier de la droiture,
à cause de mes ennemis.
12 Ne me livre pas à la merci de mes adversaires,
car de faux témoins s’attaquent à moi,
des hommes qui ne respirent que la violence.
13 Oh! si je n’étais pas sûr de voir la bonté de l’Eternel
au pays des vivants…
14 Espère en l’Eternel!
Fortifie-toi et que ton cœur s’affermisse!
Espère en l’Eternel!
