^4 (E)One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may ^(F)dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the ^[b]beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
⁵ For ^(G)in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall ^(H)set me high upon a rock.

⁶ And now ^(I)my head shall be ^[c]lifted up above my enemies all around me;
Therefore I will offer sacrifices of ^[d]joy in His tabernacle;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

⁷ Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
⁸ When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
^9 (J)Do not hide Your face from me;
Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help;
Do not leave me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation.
^10 (K)When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the Lord will take care of me.

^11 (L)Teach me Your way, O Lord,
And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.
¹² Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries;
For ^(M)false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as breathe out violence.
¹³ I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
^(N)In the land of the living.

^14 (O)Wait^[e] on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

³ The Lord who made heaven and earth
Bless you from Zion!

⁶ The Lord executes righteousness
And justice for all who are oppressed.
^7 (F)He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the children of Israel.
^8 (G)The Lord is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
^9 (H)He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
^10 (I)He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor punished us according to our iniquities.

¹¹ For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
¹² As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He ^(J)removed our transgressions from us.
^13 (K)As a father pities his children,
So the Lord pities those who fear Him.
¹⁴ For He ^[a]knows our frame;
He remembers that we are dust.

¹⁵ As for man, ^(L)his days are like grass;
As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
^16 (M)For the wind passes over it, and it is ^[b]gone,
And ^(N)its place remembers it no more.
¹⁷ But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting
On those who fear Him,
And His righteousness to children’s children,
^18 (O)To such as keep His covenant,
And to those who remember His commandments to do them.

¹⁹ The Lord has established His throne in heaven,
And ^(P)His kingdom rules over all.

^20 (Q)Bless the Lord, you His angels,
Who excel in strength, who ^(R)do His word,
Heeding the voice of His word.
²¹ Bless the Lord, all you His hosts,
^(S)You ^[c]ministers of His, who do His pleasure.
²² Bless the Lord, all His works,
In all places of His dominion.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!

^3 (C)He will not allow your foot to ^[a]be moved;
^(D)He who keeps you will not slumber.
⁴ Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

⁵ The Lord is your ^[b]keeper;
The Lord is ^(E)your shade ^(F)at your right hand.
^6 (G)The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.

⁷ The Lord shall ^[c]preserve you from all evil;
He shall ^(H)preserve your soul.
⁸ The Lord shall ^(I)preserve^[d] your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

⁴ Bring back our captivity, O Lord,
As the streams in the South.

^5 (D)Those who sow in tears
Shall reap in joy.
⁶ He who continually goes ^[c]forth weeping,
Bearing ^[d]seed for sowing,
Shall doubtless come again ^[e]with ^(E)rejoicing,
Bringing his sheaves with him.
