3 Set a guard, O Lord, [a]over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. 4 Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice deeds [b]of wickedness With men who do iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies.
Ephesians 4:22-25New American Standard Bible (NASB)
22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old [a]self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,24 and put on the new [b]self, which [c]in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
25 Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each oneof youwith his neighbor, for we are members of one another.
19 [a]Thisyou know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak andslow to anger;20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all[b]that remains of wickedness, in [c]humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his [d]natural face in a mirror;24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, [e]he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but [f]an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in [g]what he does.
26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not [h]bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained [i]by the world.
