A Plea for Deliverance and Forgiveness

A Psalm of David.

25 To (A)You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
O my God, I (B)trust in You;
Let me not be ashamed;
(C)Let not my enemies triumph over me.
Indeed, let no one who [a]waits on You be ashamed;
Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.

(D)Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day.

Remember, O Lord, (E)Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses,
For they are from of old.
Do not remember (F)the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions;
(G)According to Your mercy remember me,
For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.

Good and upright is the Lord;
Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
The humble He guides in justice,
And the humble He teaches His way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth,
To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.

  1. Psalm 25:3 Waits for You in faith

16 “But(A) they and our fathers acted [a]proudly,
(B)Hardened[b] their necks,
And did not heed Your commandments.
17 They refused to obey,
And (C)they were not mindful of Your wonders
That You did among them.
But they hardened their necks,
And [c]in their rebellion
They appointed (D)a leader
To return to their bondage.
But You are God,
Ready to pardon,
(E)Gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger,
Abundant in kindness,
And did not forsake them.

18 “Even (F)when they made a molded calf for themselves,
And said, ‘This is your god
That brought you up out of Egypt,’
And worked great provocations,
19 Yet in Your (G)manifold mercies
You did not forsake them in the wilderness.
The (H)pillar of the cloud did not depart from them by day,
To lead them on the road;
Nor the pillar of fire by night,
To show them light,
And the way they should go.
20 You also gave Your (I)good Spirit to instruct them,
And did not withhold Your (J)manna from their mouth,
And gave them (K)water for their thirst.
21 (L)Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness;
They lacked nothing;
Their (M)clothes did not wear out
And their feet did not swell.

22 “Moreover You gave them kingdoms and nations,
And divided them into [d]districts.
So they took possession of the land of (N)Sihon,
[e]The land of the king of Heshbon,
And the land of Og king of Bashan.
23 You also multiplied (O)their children as the stars of heaven,
And brought them into the land
Which You had told their fathers
To go in and possess.
24 So (P)the [f]people went in
And possessed the land;
(Q)You subdued before them the inhabitants of the land,
The Canaanites,
And gave them into their hands,
With their kings
And the people of the land,
That they might do with them as they wished.
25 And they took strong cities and a (R)rich land,
And possessed (S)houses full of all goods,
Cisterns already dug, vineyards, olive groves,
And [g]fruit trees in abundance.
So they ate and were filled and (T)grew fat,
And delighted themselves in Your great (U)goodness.

Various Exhortations

12 And we urge you, brethren, (A)to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and [a]admonish you, 13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. (B)Be at peace among yourselves.

14 Now we [b]exhort you, brethren, (C)warn those who are [c]unruly, (D)comfort the fainthearted, (E)uphold the weak, (F)be patient with all. 15 (G)See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always (H)pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.

16 (I)Rejoice always, 17 (J)pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
