The King of Glory

A Psalm of David.

24 (A)The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof,[a]
    the world and those who dwell therein,
for he has (B)founded it upon (C)the seas
    and established it upon the rivers.

(D)Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
    And who shall stand in his (E)holy place?
(F)He who has (G)clean hands and (H)a pure heart,
    who does not (I)lift up his soul to (J)what is false
    and does not swear deceitfully.
He will receive (K)blessing from the Lord
    and (L)righteousness from (M)the God of his salvation.
Such is (N)the generation of those who seek him,
    who (O)seek the face of the God of Jacob.[b] Selah

(P)Lift up your heads, O gates!
    And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
    that (Q)the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord, strong and mighty,
    the Lord, (R)mighty in battle!
Lift up your heads, O gates!
    And lift them up, O ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
    (S)The Lord of hosts,
    he is the King of glory! Selah

Teach Me Your Paths

[c] Of David.

25 To you, O Lord, I (T)lift up my soul.
O my God, in you I (U)trust;
    (V)let me not be put to shame;
    (W)let not my enemies exult over me.
Indeed, (X)none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
    they shall be ashamed who are (Y)wantonly (Z)treacherous.

(AA)Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
    teach me your paths.
Lead me in your (AB)truth and teach me,
    for you are the God of my salvation;
    for you I wait all the day long.

Remember your (AC)mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,
    (AD)for they have been from of old.
Remember not (AE)the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
    according to your (AF)steadfast love remember me,
    for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!

(AG)Good and upright is the Lord;
    therefore he (AH)instructs sinners in the way.
He leads the humble in what is right,
    and teaches the humble his way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are (AI)steadfast love and faithfulness,
    for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.

11 For your (AJ)name's sake, O Lord,
    pardon my guilt, for it is (AK)great.
12 Who is the man who fears the Lord?
    Him (AL)will he instruct in the way that he should choose.
13 His soul shall (AM)abide in well-being,
    and his (AN)offspring (AO)shall inherit the land.
14 (AP)The friendship[d] of the Lord is for those who fear him,
    and he makes known to them his covenant.
15 My (AQ)eyes are ever toward the Lord,
    for he will (AR)pluck my feet out of the net.

16 (AS)Turn to me and be gracious to me,
    for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
    bring me out of my distresses.
18 (AT)Consider my affliction and my trouble,
    and forgive all my sins.

19 Consider how many are my foes,
    and with what violent hatred they hate me.
20 Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me!
    (AU)Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
21 May integrity and uprightness preserve me,
    for I wait for you.

22 (AV)Redeem Israel, O God,
    out of all his troubles.

I Will Bless the Lord

Of David.

26 (AW)Vindicate me, O Lord,
    for I have (AX)walked in my integrity,
    and I have (AY)trusted in the Lord without wavering.
(AZ)Prove me, O Lord, and try me;
    test my heart and (BA)my mind.[e]
For your (BB)steadfast love is before my eyes,
    and I (BC)walk in your (BD)faithfulness.

I do not (BE)sit with men of (BF)falsehood,
    nor do I consort with hypocrites.
I (BG)hate the assembly of evildoers,
    and I will not sit with the wicked.

I (BH)wash my hands in innocence
    and go around your altar, O Lord,
proclaiming thanksgiving aloud,
    and telling all your (BI)wondrous deeds.

O Lord, I (BJ)love the habitation of your house
    and the place where your glory dwells.
(BK)Do not sweep my soul away with sinners,
    nor my life with bloodthirsty men,
10 in whose hands are evil devices,
    and whose right hands are full of (BL)bribes.

11 But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity;
    redeem me, and be gracious to me.
12 My foot stands on (BM)level ground;
    in (BN)the great assembly I will bless the Lord.

The Lord Is My Light and My Salvation

Of David.

27 The Lord is my (BO)light and my (BP)salvation;
    (BQ)whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold[f] of my life;
    of whom shall I be afraid?

When evildoers assail me
    to (BR)eat up my flesh,
my adversaries and foes,
    it is they who stumble and fall.

(BS)Though an army encamp against me,
    my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
    yet[g] I will be confident.

(BT)One thing have I asked of the Lord,
    that will I seek after:
that I may (BU)dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
to gaze upon (BV)the beauty of the Lord
    and to inquire[h] in his temple.

For he will (BW)hide me in his shelter
    in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
    he will (BX)lift me high upon a rock.

And now my (BY)head shall be lifted up
    above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
    sacrifices with shouts of (BZ)joy;
(CA)I will sing and make melody to the Lord.

(CB)Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud;
    be gracious to me and answer me!
You have said, (CC)“Seek[i] my face.”
My heart says to you,
    “Your face, Lord, do I seek.”[j]
    (CD)Hide not your face from me.
Turn not your servant away in anger,
    O you who have been my help.
Cast me not off; forsake me not,
    (CE)O God of my salvation!
10 For (CF)my father and my mother have forsaken me,
    but the Lord will (CG)take me in.

11 (CH)Teach me your way, O Lord,
    and lead me on (CI)a level path
    because of my enemies.
12 (CJ)Give me not up to the will of my adversaries;
    for (CK)false witnesses have risen against me,
    and they (CL)breathe out violence.

13 I believe that I shall look[k] upon (CM)the goodness of the Lord
    in (CN)the land of the living!
14 (CO)Wait for the Lord;
    (CP)be strong, and let your heart take courage;
    wait for the Lord!

The Lord Is My Strength and My Shield

Of David.

28 To you, O Lord, I call;
    (CQ)my rock, be not deaf to me,
lest, if you (CR)be silent to me,
    I become like those who (CS)go down to the pit.
(CT)Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy,
    when I cry to you for help,
when I (CU)lift up my hands
    (CV)toward your most holy sanctuary.[l]

Do not (CW)drag me off with the wicked,
    with the workers of evil,
(CX)who speak peace with their neighbors
    while evil is in their hearts.
(CY)Give to them according to their work
    and according to the evil of their deeds;
give to them according to the work of their hands;
    (CZ)render them their due reward.
Because they (DA)do not regard the works of the Lord
    or the work of his hands,
he will tear them down and build them up no more.

Blessed be the Lord!
    For he has (DB)heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
The Lord is my strength and (DC)my shield;
    in him my heart (DD)trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
    and with my (DE)song I give thanks to him.

The Lord is the strength of his people;[m]
    he is (DF)the saving refuge of his anointed.
Oh, save your people and bless (DG)your heritage!
    (DH)Be their shepherd and (DI)carry them forever.

Ascribe to the Lord Glory

A Psalm of David.

29 Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,[n]
    (DJ)ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
    worship the Lord in (DK)the splendor of holiness.[o]

The voice of the Lord is over (DL)the waters;
    the God of glory (DM)thunders,
    the Lord, over many waters.
The voice of the Lord is (DN)powerful;
    the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
    the Lord breaks (DO)the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon to (DP)skip like a calf,
    and (DQ)Sirion like a young (DR)wild ox.

The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.
The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
    the Lord shakes the wilderness of (DS)Kadesh.

The voice of the Lord makes (DT)the deer give birth[p]
    and strips the forests bare,
    and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

10 The Lord sits enthroned over (DU)the flood;
    the Lord sits enthroned (DV)as king forever.
11 May the Lord give (DW)strength to his people!
    May the Lord bless[q] his people with (DX)peace!

Joy Comes with the Morning

A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of (DY)the temple.

30 I will (DZ)extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
    and have not let my foes (EA)rejoice over me.
O Lord my God, I (EB)cried to you for help,
    and you have (EC)healed me.
O Lord, you have brought up my soul from (ED)Sheol;
    you restored me to life from among those who (EE)go down to the pit.[r]

Sing praises to the Lord, O you (EF)his saints,
    and (EG)give thanks to his holy name.[s]
(EH)For his anger is but for a moment,
    and (EI)his favor is for a lifetime.[t]
(EJ)Weeping may tarry for the night,
    but (EK)joy comes with the morning.

As for me, I said in my (EL)prosperity,
    “I shall never be (EM)moved.”
By your favor, O Lord,
    you made my (EN)mountain stand strong;
you (EO)hid your face;
    I was (EP)dismayed.

To you, O Lord, I cry,
    and (EQ)to the Lord I plead for mercy:
“What profit is there in my death,[u]
    if I go down to the pit?[v]
Will (ER)the dust praise you?
    Will it tell of your faithfulness?
10 (ES)Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
    O Lord, be my helper!”

11 You have turned for me my mourning into (ET)dancing;
    you have loosed my sackcloth
    and clothed me with gladness,
12 that my (EU)glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
    O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
