Expanded Bible
The Prayer of a Suffering Man
For the director of music. To the tune of “The Doe of Dawn.” A psalm of David.
22 My God, my God, why have you ·abandoned [forsaken] me [Matt. 27:46; Mark 15:34]?
You seem far from ·saving [helping] me,
far away from my groans.
2 My God, I call to you during the day,
but you do not answer.
I call at night;
I ·am not silent [or get no rest].
3 You ·sit as the Holy One [L are holy].
·The praises of Israel are your throne [L You are enthroned on the praises of Israel].
4 Our ·ancestors [fathers] ·trusted [had confidence in] you;
they ·trusted [had confidence], and you ·saved [rescued; T delivered] them.
5 They ·called [cried out] to you for help
and were rescued.
They ·trusted [had confidence in] you
and were not ·disappointed [shamed; humiliated].
6 But I am like a worm instead of ·a man [human].
People ·make fun of [scorn; reproach] me and ·hate [despise] me.
7 Those who look at me ·laugh [ridicule/mock me].
They ·stick out their tongues [throw insults; L open lips] and shake their heads.
8 They say, “·Turn to the Lord for help [L Trust the Lord].
Maybe he will ·save [rescue; T deliver] you.
If he ·likes [delights/takes pleasure in] you,
maybe he will ·rescue [save; T deliver] you.”
9 You ·had my mother give birth to me [L brought me out of the womb].
You made me ·trust [have confidence in] you
while I was ·just a baby [L at the breasts of my mother].
10 ·I have leaned on you since the day I was born [L On you I was cast from the womb];
you have been ·my God [L mine] ·since my mother gave me birth [L from the womb of my mother].
11 So don’t be far away from me.
Now ·trouble [distress] is near,
and there is no one to help.
12 People have surrounded me like ·angry [L many] bulls.
Like the strong bulls of Bashan [Deut. 32:14; Mic. 7:14], they ·are on every side [encircle me].
13 Like ·hungry [rending; L tearing their prey], roaring lions
they open their mouths at me.
14 My strength is gone,
like water poured out onto the ground,
and my bones are out of joint.
My heart is like wax [C weak, formless];
it has melted inside me.
15 My strength has dried up like a ·clay pot [potsherd],
and my tongue sticks to the top of my mouth.
You laid me in the dust of death.
16 Evil people have surrounded me;
like dogs ·they [a group of evil people] have trapped me.
They have ·bitten [pierced; or shriveled] my ·arms [hands] and ·legs [feet].
17 I can count all my bones;
people look and stare at me.
18 They divided my clothes among them,
and they ·threw [cast] lots for my clothing.
19 But, Lord, don’t be far away.
You are my ·strength [or help]; hurry to help me.
20 ·Save [Rescue; T Deliver] me from the sword;
save my life from the dogs.
21 ·Rescue [Save; T Deliver] me from the lion’s mouth;
·save [L answer] me from the horns of the bulls.
22 Then I will ·tell my brothers and sisters about you [L recount your name/reputation to my brothers];
I will praise you in the ·public meeting [assembly; congregation].
23 Praise the Lord, all you who ·respect [fear] him [Prov. 1:7].
All you ·descendants [seed] of Jacob [C Israelites], ·honor [glorify] him;
·fear [revere] him, all you Israelites.
24 He does not ·ignore [despise or disdain] ·those in trouble [L the suffering of the afflicted].
He doesn’t hide his face from them
but listens when they ·call out to him [cry to him for help].
25 Lord, ·I praise you [L from you comes my praise] in the great ·meeting of your people [assembly];
these ·worshipers [L who fear him] will see me ·do what I promised [L fulfill my vows].
26 ·Poor [or Afflicted] people will eat ·until they are full [and be satisfied];
those who ·look to the Lord [L seek him] will praise him.
May your hearts live forever!
27 ·People everywhere [L All the ends of the earth] will remember
and will turn to the Lord.
All the families of the nations
will worship him
28 because ·the Lord is King [rule belongs to the Lord],
and he rules the nations.
29 All the ·powerful people [L fat ones] on earth will eat and worship.
Everyone will ·bow down to [kneel before] him,
all who will ·one day die [L go down to the dust and cannot keep themselves alive].
30 The ·people in the future [posterity; seed] will serve him;
they will always be told about the Lord.
31 They will ·tell that he does what is right [recount his righteousness].
People who are not yet born
will hear what God has done.

為甚麼遠離不救我，不聽我呻吟的話呢？
2 我的 神啊！我日間呼求，你不應允；
在晚上我還是不停止。
3 但你是聖潔的，
是用以色列的讚美為寶座的。
4 我們的列祖倚靠你，
他們倚靠你，你就救他們。
5 他們向你哀求，就得拯救；
他們倚靠你，就不失望。
6 但我是蟲，不是人，
是世上所羞辱的，也是眾人所藐視的。
7 看見我的，都嘲笑我；
他們撇著嘴，搖著頭，說：
8 “他既然把自己交託耶和華，
就讓耶和華搭救他吧！
耶和華既然喜悅他，就讓耶和華拯救他吧！”
9 然而，是你使我從母腹中出來的；
我在母親的懷裡，你就使我有倚靠的心。
10 我自出母胎，就被交託給你；
我一出母腹，你就是我的 神。
11 求你不要遠離我，因為災難臨近了，
卻沒有人幫助我。
12 有許多公牛圍著我，
巴珊強壯的公牛困住了我。
13 他們向我大大地張嘴，

26 受苦的人必吃得飽足，
尋求耶和華的人必讚美他，

27 地的四極，都要記念耶和華，並且歸向他。

28 因為國度是屬於耶和華的，
他是掌管萬國的。
29 地上所有富足的人，都必吃喝、敬拜；
所有下到塵土中，不再存活的人，
都在他面前屈身下拜。
30 必有後裔服事他，
必有人把主的事向後代述說。
31 他們要把他的公義傳給以後出生的民，

Dio mio, Dio mio, perché mi hai abbandonato[b]?
Te ne stai lontano, senza soccorrermi,
senza dare ascolto alle parole del mio gemito!
2 Dio mio, io grido di giorno, ma tu non rispondi,
e anche di notte, senza interruzione.
3 Eppure tu sei il Santo,
siedi circondato dalle lodi d’Israele.
4 I nostri padri confidarono in te;
confidarono e tu li liberasti.
5 Gridarono a te, e furono salvati;
confidarono in te, e non furono delusi.
6 Ma io sono un verme e non un uomo,
l’infamia degli uomini e il disprezzato dal popolo.
7 Chiunque mi vede si fa beffe di me;
allunga il labbro, scuote il capo, dicendo:
8 «Egli si affida al Signore; lo liberi dunque;
lo salvi, poiché lo gradisce[c]!»
9 Sì, tu m’hai tratto dal grembo materno;
m’hai fatto riposare fiducioso sulle mammelle di mia madre.
10 A te fui affidato fin dalla mia nascita,
tu sei il mio Dio fin dal grembo di mia madre.
11 Non allontanarti da me, perché l’angoscia è vicina

tu che sei la mia forza, affrèttati a soccorrermi.
20 Libera la mia vita dalla spada
e salva l’unica vita mia dall’assalto del cane;

Tu mi risponderai liberandomi dalle corna dei bufali.

23 O voi che temete il Signore, lodatelo!
Voi tutti, discendenti di Giacobbe, glorificatelo,

24 Poiché non ha disprezzato né sdegnato l’afflizione del sofferente,
non gli ha nascosto il suo volto;
ma quando quello ha gridato a lui, egli l’ha esaudito.
25 Tu sei l’argomento della mia lode nella grande assemblea;
io adempirò i miei voti in presenza di quelli che ti temono.
26 Gli umili mangeranno e saranno saziati;
quelli che cercano il Signore lo loderanno;
il loro cuore vivrà in eterno.
27 Tutte le estremità della terra si ricorderanno del Signore
e si convertiranno a lui;
tutte le famiglie delle nazioni adoreranno in tua presenza.
28 Poiché al Signore appartiene il regno,
egli domina sulle nazioni.
29 Tutti i potenti della terra mangeranno e adoreranno;
tutti quelli che scendono nella polvere
e non possono mantenersi in vita s’inchineranno davanti a lui.
30 La discendenza lo servirà;

The Suffering, Praise, and Posterity of the Messiah
To the Chief Musician. Set to [a]“The Deer of the Dawn.” A Psalm of David.
22 My (A)God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?
Why are You so far from helping Me,
And from the words of My groaning?
2 O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear;
And in the night season, and am not silent.
3 But You are holy,
Enthroned in the (B)praises of Israel.
4 Our fathers trusted in You;
They trusted, and You delivered them.
5 They cried to You, and were delivered;
(C)They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.
6 But I am (D)a worm, and no man;
(E)A reproach of men, and despised by the people.
7 (F)All those who see Me ridicule Me;
They [b]shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8 “He(G) [c]trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him;
(H)Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”
9 (I)But You are He who took Me out of the womb;
You made Me trust while on My mother’s breasts.
10 I was cast upon You from birth.
From My mother’s womb
(J)You have been My God.
11 Be not far from Me,
For trouble is near;
For there is none to help.

26 The poor shall eat and be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will praise the Lord.

27 All the ends of the world
Shall remember and turn to the Lord,

Shall worship before [j]You.
28 (AC)For the kingdom is the Lord’s,
And He rules over the nations.
29 (AD)All the prosperous of the earth
Shall eat and worship;
(AE)All those who go down to [k]the dust
Shall bow before Him,
Even he who cannot keep himself alive.
30 A posterity shall serve Him.
It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation,
31 They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born,
That He has done this.
