Tacksägelse för Herrens hjälp till kungen
21 För körledaren. En psalm av David.
2 Herre, kungen gläder sig över din styrka,
han jublar över din räddning.
3 Du ger honom vad han innerst inne önskar,
du vägrar honom inget han ber om. Séla
4 Du möter honom med rika välsignelser,
du sätter en krona av renaste guld på hans huvud.
5 Han ber dig om liv, och du ger honom det,
livsdagar som sträcker sig framåt i evighet.
6 Genom din räddning har hans ära blivit stor,
du ger honom majestät och prakt.
7 Du ger honom välsignelser för alltid,
du ger honom glädje inför dig.
8 För kungen litar på Herren,
och genom den Högstes nåd ska han aldrig vackla.
9 Din hand når alla dina fiender,
din starka arm träffar alla som hatar dig.
10 När du visar dig,
sätter du dem som i en brinnande ugn.
I sin vrede förtär Herren dem,
eld äter upp dem.
11 Du förgör deras efterkommande från jorden,
deras avkomma från människosläktet.
12 För de planerade ont mot dig,
de tänkte ut intriger,
men de kommer inte att lyckas.
13 Du ska få dem att vända sig om och fly,
när du riktar dina pilar mot dem.
14 Herre, du är upphöjd i din makt!

For the director of music. A psalm of David.
2 You have granted him his heart’s desire(C)
and have not withheld the request of his lips.[b]
3 You came to greet him with rich blessings
and placed a crown of pure gold(D) on his head.(E)
4 He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—
length of days, for ever and ever.(F)
5 Through the victories(G) you gave, his glory is great;
you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.(H)
6 Surely you have granted him unending blessings
and made him glad with the joy(I) of your presence.(J)
7 For the king trusts in the Lord;(K)
through the unfailing love(L) of the Most High(M)
he will not be shaken.(N)
8 Your hand will lay hold(O) on all your enemies;
your right hand will seize your foes.
9 When you appear for battle,
you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace.
The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,
and his fire will consume them.(P)
10 You will destroy their descendants from the earth,
their posterity from mankind.(Q)
11 Though they plot evil(R) against you
and devise wicked schemes,(S) they cannot succeed.
12 You will make them turn their backs(T)
when you aim at them with drawn bow.

14 Var inte rädd, du mask Jakob,
du lilla Israel.
Jag hjälper dig, säger Herren,
din befriare[a], Israels Helige.
15 Jag ska göra dig till en tröskmaskin,
ny och med vassa taggar.
Du ska tröska bergen till grus
och höjderna till agnar.
16 Du ska kasta upp dem i luften,
och vinden ska blåsa bort dem.
En stormvind ska sprida dem åt alla håll.
Men du ska glädja dig i Herren,
jubla över Israels Helige.
17 De fattiga och lidande söker vatten,
men det finns inget.
Deras tungor torkar ut av törst.
Men jag, Herren, ska svara dem.
Jag, Israels Gud, ska aldrig överge dem.
18 Jag ska låta floder rinna fram uppe på höjderna
och källor av vatten springa upp i dalarna.
Jag ska göra öknen vattenrik
och förtorkade områden rika på källor.
19 I öknen ska jag plantera ceder,
akacia, myrten och olivträd,
jag ska sätta cypresser i ödemarken
tillsammans med alm och pinje.
20 Så ska alla se och veta,
begrunda och förstå,
att det är Herren som har gjort det,
att Israels Helige har skapat det.

little Israel, do not fear,
for I myself will help(C) you,” declares the Lord,
your Redeemer,(D) the Holy One(E) of Israel.
15 “See, I will make you into a threshing sledge,(F)
new and sharp, with many teeth.
You will thresh the mountains(G) and crush them,
and reduce the hills to chaff.(H)
16 You will winnow(I) them, the wind will pick them up,
and a gale(J) will blow them away.(K)
But you will rejoice(L) in the Lord
and glory(M) in the Holy One(N) of Israel.
17 “The poor and needy search for water,(O)
but there is none;
their tongues are parched with thirst.(P)
But I the Lord will answer(Q) them;
I, the God of Israel, will not forsake(R) them.
18 I will make rivers flow(S) on barren heights,
and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert(T) into pools of water,(U)
and the parched ground into springs.(V)
19 I will put in the desert(W)
the cedar and the acacia,(X) the myrtle and the olive.
I will set junipers(Y) in the wasteland,
the fir and the cypress(Z) together,(AA)
20 so that people may see and know,(AB)
may consider and understand,(AC)
that the hand(AD) of the Lord has done this,
that the Holy One(AE) of Israel has created(AF) it.

Paulus speciella uppdrag
14 Jag är själv övertygad om, syskon, att ni är fyllda med godhet och med så mycket kunskap att ni kan vägleda varandra. 15 Men jag ville ändå skriva till er för att påminna om allt detta, och ibland har jag varit mycket rakt på sak. Det beror på att Gud i sin nåd gav mig 16 uppdraget att tjäna som präst åt Kristus Jesus, för att jag skulle sprida Guds evangelium till andra folk, så att de skulle bli ett offer till Gud, helgat genom den heliga Anden.
17 Tack vare Kristus Jesus kan jag vara stolt över det uppdrag Gud har gett mig. 18 Något annat än det som Kristus har gjort genom mig för de andra folken vågar jag inte tala om. Han har fått dem att lyda Gud genom mina ord och mina handlingar, 19 och genom kraften i tecken och under genom Andens kraft. På detta sätt har jag spridit evangeliet om Kristus, med början i Jerusalem och sedan överallt, ända till Illyrien.[a]
20 Hela tiden har min målsättning varit att sprida evangelium på platser där man ännu inte känner Kristus, istället för att bygga vidare på en grund som någon annan har lagt, 21 så som det står skrivet:
”De ska se något som ingen har berättat för dem,
och förstå något som de inte har hört om.”[b]

14 I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness,(A) filled with knowledge(B) and competent to instruct one another. 15 Yet I have written you quite boldly on some points to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me(C) 16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles.(D) He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God,(E) so that the Gentiles might become an offering(F) acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
17 Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus(G) in my service to God.(H) 18 I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles(I) to obey God(J) by what I have said and done— 19 by the power of signs and wonders,(K) through the power of the Spirit of God.(L) So from Jerusalem(M) all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.(N) 20 It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel(O) where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.(P) 21 Rather, as it is written:
