Psalm 2
Amplified Bible
The Reign of the Lord’s Anointed.
2 Why are the [a]nations in an [b]uproar [in turmoil against God],
And why do the people devise a vain and hopeless plot?
2
The kings of the earth take their stand;
And the rulers take counsel together
Against the Lord and His Anointed (the Davidic King, the Messiah, the Christ), saying,(A)
3
“Let us break apart their [divine] bands [of restraint]
And cast away their cords [of control] from us.”
4
He who sits [enthroned] in the heavens laughs [at their rebellion];
The [Sovereign] [c]Lord scoffs at them [and in supreme contempt He mocks them].
5
Then He will speak to them in His [profound] anger
And terrify them with His displeasure, saying,
6
“Yet as for Me, I have anointed and firmly installed My King
Upon Zion, My holy mountain.”
7
“I will declare the decree of the Lord:
He said to Me, ‘You are My Son;
This day [I proclaim] I have begotten You.(B)
8
‘Ask of Me, and I will assuredly give [You] the nations as Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth as Your possession.
9
‘You shall break them with a rod of iron;
You shall shatter them [in pieces] like earthenware.’”(C)
10
Now therefore, O kings, act wisely;
Be instructed and take warning, O leaders (judges, rulers) of the earth.
11
Worship the Lord and serve Him with reverence [with awe-inspired fear and submissive wonder];
Rejoice [yet do so] with trembling.
12
Kiss (pay respect to) the [d]Son, so that He does not become angry, and you perish in the way,
For His wrath may soon be kindled and set aflame.
How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] are all those who take refuge in Him!

- Psalm 2:12 The word in the original is bar, taken to be the Aramaic for “son.” But it is surprising that an Aramaic word would be used here. The ancient rabbis maintained that a different word with the same spelling in Hebrew was intended, whose meaning is “pure.” They claimed that it is a reference to the Torah, on the ground that all the words in the Torah are pure.

Psalm 2
1 Why are the nations so angry?
Why do they waste their time with futile plans?
2 The kings of the earth prepare for battle;
the rulers plot together
against the Lord
and against his anointed one.
3 “Let us break their chains,” they cry,
“and free ourselves from slavery to God.”
4 But the one who rules in heaven laughs.
The Lord scoffs at them.
5 Then in anger he rebukes them,
terrifying them with his fierce fury.
6 For the Lord declares, “I have placed my chosen king on the throne
in Jerusalem,[a] on my holy mountain.”
7 The king proclaims the Lord’s decree:
“The Lord said to me, ‘You are my son.[b]
Today I have become your Father.[c]
8 Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance,
the whole earth as your possession.
9 You will break[d] them with an iron rod
and smash them like clay pots.’”
10 Now then, you kings, act wisely!
Be warned, you rulers of the earth!
11 Serve the Lord with reverent fear,
and rejoice with trembling.
12 Submit to God’s royal son,[e] or he will become angry,
and you will be destroyed in the midst of all your activities—
for his anger flares up in an instant.
But what joy for all who take refuge in him!

1 Vì sao các quốc gia náo loạn,
Và các dân tộc toan mưu chước hư không?
2 Các vua thế gian nổi dậy,
Và các lãnh tụ nghị luận với nhau để chống lại Chúa,
Và nghịch lại Ðấng được xức dầu của Ngài.
3 Chúng nói với nhau rằng,
“Chúng ta hãy bứt đứt xiềng xích của họ;
Chúng ta hãy dứt bỏ các dây trói buộc của họ.”
4 Ðấng ngự trên trời sẽ cười;
Chúa sẽ cười chúng.
5 Trong cơn giận, Ngài sẽ khiển trách chúng;
Trong cơn thịnh nộ, Ngài sẽ làm cho chúng kinh hãi, mà rằng,
6 “Này, Ta đã lập vua Ta trên Si-ôn, núi thánh của Ta.”
7 Tôi sẽ truyền ra mạng lịnh của Chúa;
Ngài phán với tôi, “Con là Con Ta. Ngày nay Ta đã sinh Con.
8 Hãy cầu xin Ta, Ta sẽ ban các nước cho Con làm cơ nghiệp,
Các nơi tận cùng trái đất cho Con làm tài sản.
9 Con sẽ trị vì chúng bằng cây thiết trượng;
Con sẽ đập nát chúng như đập vỡ các đồ sành.”
10 Vậy, hỡi các vua, khá khôn ngoan.
Hỡi các lãnh tụ thế gian, khá nghe lời răn bảo:
11 Hãy phụng sự Chúa với lòng kính sợ;
Khá vừa vui và cũng vừa run.
12 Hãy đầu phục và yêu kính[a] Con,
Kẻo Ngài nổi giận mà các người sẽ bị diệt vong trong đường lối mình,
Vì cơn giận của Ngài có thể bừng lên trong chốc lát.
Phước cho người nào nương náu mình nơi Ngài.
