Psalm 18:30-19:7
English Standard Version
30 This God—his way is (A)perfect;[a]
the word of the Lord (B)proves true;
he is (C)a shield for all those who (D)take refuge in him.
31 For (E)who is God, but the Lord?
And who is (F)a rock, except our God?—
32 the God who (G)equipped me with strength
and made my way (H)blameless.
33 He made my feet like the feet of a (I)deer
and set me secure on (J)the heights.
34 He (K)trains my hands for war,
so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
35 You have given me the shield of your salvation,
and your right hand (L)supported me,
and your (M)gentleness made me great.
36 You (N)gave a wide place for my steps under me,
and my feet did not slip.
37 I pursued my enemies and overtook them,
and did not turn back till they were consumed.
38 I thrust them through, so that they were not able to rise;
they fell under my feet.
39 For you equipped me with strength for the battle;
you made those who rise against me sink under me.
40 You made my enemies (O)turn their backs to me,[b]
and those who hated me I destroyed.
41 (P)They cried for help, but there was none to save;
they cried to the Lord, but he did not answer them.
42 I beat them fine as (Q)dust before the wind;
I cast them out like (R)the mire of the streets.
43 You delivered me from (S)strife with the people;
you made me (T)the head of the nations;
(U)people whom I had not known served me.
44 As soon as they heard of me they obeyed me;
(V)foreigners (W)came cringing to me.
45 (X)Foreigners lost heart
and (Y)came trembling out of their fortresses.
46 The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock,
and exalted be the God of my salvation—
47 the God who gave me vengeance
and (Z)subdued peoples under me,
48 who rescued me from my enemies;
yes, you (AA)exalted me above those who rose against me;
you delivered me from (AB)the man of violence.
49 (AC)For this I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations,
and (AD)sing to your name.
50 Great (AE)salvation he brings to his king,
and shows steadfast love to his (AF)anointed,
to (AG)David and his offspring forever.
The Law of the Lord Is Perfect
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
19 (AH)The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above[c] proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
4 (AI)Their (AJ)voice[d] goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for (AK)the sun,
5 (AL)which comes out like (AM)a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
7 (AN)The law of the Lord is perfect,[e]
(AO)reviving the soul;
(AP)the testimony of the Lord is (AQ)sure,
(AR)making wise (AS)the simple;
