New International Version

Psalm 15

A psalm of David.

¹Lord, who may dwell^(A) in your sacred tent?^(B)
Who may live on your holy mountain?^(C)

²The one whose walk is blameless,^(D)
    who does what is righteous,
    who speaks the truth^(E) from their heart;
³whose tongue utters no slander,^(F)
    who does no wrong to a neighbor,
    and casts no slur on others;
⁴who despises a vile person
    but honors^(G) those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath^(H) even when it hurts,
    and does not change their mind;
⁵who lends money to the poor without interest;^(I)
    who does not accept a bribe^(J) against the innocent.

Whoever does these things
will never be shaken.^(K)

Judges

¹⁸Appoint judges^(A) and officials for each of your tribes in every town the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly.^(B) ¹⁹Do not pervert justice^(C) or show partiality.^(D) Do not accept a bribe,^(E) for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the innocent. ²⁰Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Suffering for Doing Good

⁸Finally, all of you, be like-minded,^(A) be sympathetic, love one another,^(B) be compassionate and humble.^(C) ⁹Do not repay evil with evil^(D) or insult with insult.^(E) On the contrary, repay evil with blessing,^(F) because to this^(G) you were called^(H) so that you may inherit a blessing.^(I) ¹⁰For,

“Whoever would love life
    and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
    and their lips from deceitful speech.
¹¹They must turn from evil and do good;
    they must seek peace and pursue it.
¹²For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
    and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”^[a]^(J)
