Praise for God’s Triumph
149 Hallelujah!
Sing to the Lord a new song,(A)
his praise in the assembly of the faithful.(B)
2 Let Israel celebrate its Maker;
let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.(C)
3 Let them praise his name with dancing
and make music to him with tambourine and lyre.(D)
4 For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;(E)
he adorns the humble with salvation.(F)
5 Let the faithful celebrate in triumphal glory;
let them shout for joy on their beds.(G)
6 Let the exaltation of God be in their mouths[a]
and a double-edged sword in their hands,(H)
7 inflicting vengeance on the nations
and punishment on the peoples,(I)
8 binding their kings with chains
and their dignitaries with iron shackles,(J)
9 carrying out the judgement decreed against them.
This honour is for all his faithful people.(K)

149 Alleluia. Cantate all'Eterno un canto nuovo, cantate la sua lode nell'assemblea dei santi.
2 Si rallegri Israele in colui che lo ha fatto, esultino i figli di Sion nel loro Re.
3 Lodino il suo nome con la danza, cantino le sue lodi col tamburello e la cetra,
4 perché l'Eterno si compiace nel suo popolo; egli corona di salvezza gli umili.
5 Esultino i santi nella gloria, cantino di gioia sui loro letti.
6 Abbiano nella loro bocca le lodi di DIO e nella loro mano una spada a due tagli,
7 per far vendetta sulle nazioni e infliggere castighi sui popoli,
8 per legare i loro re con catene e i loro nobili con ceppi di ferro,

Psalm 149
2 Let Israel rejoice(D) in their Maker;(E)
let the people of Zion be glad in their King.(F)

and make music to him with timbrel and harp.(H)
4 For the Lord takes delight(I) in his people;
he crowns the humble with victory.(J)
5 Let his faithful people rejoice(K) in this honor
and sing for joy on their beds.(L)
6 May the praise of God be in their mouths(M)
and a double-edged(N) sword in their hands,(O)
7 to inflict vengeance(P) on the nations
and punishment(Q) on the peoples,
8 to bind their kings with fetters,(R)
their nobles with shackles of iron,(S)
9 to carry out the sentence written against them—(T)
this is the glory of all his faithful people.(U)
