Praise to God for His Salvation and Judgment

149 Praise^[a] the Lord!

^(A)Sing to the Lord a new song,
And His praise in the assembly of saints.

²Let Israel rejoice in their Maker;
Let the children of Zion be joyful in their ^(B)King.
³^(C)Let them praise His name with the dance;
Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.
⁴For ^(D)the Lord takes pleasure in His people;
^(E)He will beautify the ^[b]humble with salvation.

⁵Let the saints be joyful in glory;
Let them ^(F)sing aloud on their beds.
⁶Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,
And ^(G)a two-edged sword in their hand,
⁷To execute vengeance on the nations,
And punishments on the peoples;
⁸To bind their kings with chains,
And their nobles with fetters of iron;
⁹^(H)To execute on them the written judgment—
^(I)This honor have all His saints.

⁷^(A)“So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me. ⁸When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you shall surely die!’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. ⁹Nevertheless if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have ^[a]delivered your soul.

¹⁰“Therefore you, O son of man, say to the house of Israel: ‘Thus you say, “If our transgressions and our sins lie upon us, and we ^(B)pine^[b] away in them, ^(C)how can we then live?” ’ ¹¹Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ^(D)‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked ^(E)turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For ^(F)why should you die, O house of Israel?’
