Creation’s Praise of the Lord
1 Hallelujah!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
praise him in the heights.(A)
2 Praise him, all his angels;
praise him, all his heavenly armies.(B)
3 Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.(C)
4 Praise him, highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens.(D)
5 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for he commanded, and they were created.(E)
6 He set them in position forever and ever;
he gave an order that will never pass away.(F)
7 Praise the Lord from the earth,
all sea monsters and ocean depths,(G)
8 lightning[a] and hail, snow and cloud,
stormy wind that executes his command,(H)
9 mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars,(I)
10 wild animals and all cattle,
creatures that crawl and flying birds,(J)
11 kings of the earth and all peoples,
princes and all judges of the earth,(K)
12 young men as well as young women,
old and young together.(L)
13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted.
His majesty covers heaven and earth.(M)
14 He has raised up a horn for his people,
resulting in praise to all his faithful ones,
to the Israelites, the people close to him.(N)

Ministering to the Multitude
7 Jesus(A) departed with his disciples to the sea, and a large crowd followed from Galilee,(B) and a large crowd followed from Judea,(C) 8 Jerusalem,(D) Idumea, beyond the Jordan,(E) and around Tyre(F) and Sidon.(G) The large crowd came to him because they heard about everything he was doing. 9 Then he told his disciples to have a small boat(H) ready for him, so that the crowd wouldn’t crush him. 10 Since he had healed(I) many, all who had diseases were pressing toward him to touch(J) him. 11 Whenever the unclean(K) spirits(L) saw him, they fell down(M) before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God!” (N) 12 And he would strongly warn(O) them not to make him known.(P)
The Twelve Apostles
13 Jesus(Q) went up the mountain(R) and summoned those he wanted, and they came to him. 14 He appointed twelve, whom he also named apostles,[a](S) to be with him, to send them out to preach,(T) 15 and to have authority to[b] drive out demons. 16 He appointed the Twelve:[c](U) To Simon,(V) he gave the name Peter;(W) 17 and to James(X) the son of Zebedee,(Y) and to his brother John,(Z) he gave the name “Boanerges” (that is, “Sons of Thunder”(AA)); 18 Andrew;(AB) Philip(AC) and Bartholomew; Matthew(AD) and Thomas;(AE) James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot, 19 and Judas Iscariot,(AF) who also betrayed him.
