Praise the Name of the Lord

148 ^(A)Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord ^(B)from the heavens;
praise him ^(C)in the heights!
²Praise him, all his angels;
praise him, all his ^(D)hosts!

³Praise him, sun and moon,
praise him, all you shining stars!
⁴Praise him, you ^(E)highest heavens,
and you ^(F)waters above the heavens!

⁵^(G)Let them praise the name of the Lord!
For ^(H)he commanded and they were created.
⁶And he ^(I)established them forever and ever;
he gave ^(J)a decree, and it shall not ^(K)pass away.^[a]

⁷Praise the Lord ^(L)from the earth,
you ^(M)great sea creatures and all deeps,
⁸^(N)fire and hail, ^(O)snow and mist,
^(P)stormy wind ^(Q)fulfilling his word!

⁹^(R)Mountains and all hills,
^(S)fruit trees and all ^(T)cedars!
¹⁰^(U)Beasts and all livestock,
creeping things and ^(V)flying birds!

¹¹Kings of the earth and ^(W)all peoples,
princes and all rulers of the earth!
¹²Young men and maidens together,
old men and children!

¹³^(X)Let them praise the name of the Lord,
    for ^(Y)his name alone is exalted;
    ^(Z)his majesty is above earth and heaven.
¹⁴He has ^(AA)raised up a horn for his people,
    ^(AB)praise for all his saints,
    for the people of Israel who are ^(AC)near to him.

Longing for Her Beloved

8 Oh that you were like a brother to me
    who nursed at my mother's breasts!
If I found you outside, I would kiss you,
    and none would despise me.
²I would lead you and ^(A)bring you
    into the house of my mother—
    she who used to teach me.
I would give you ^(B)spiced wine to drink,
    the juice of my pomegranate.
³^(C)His left hand is under my head,
    and his right hand embraces me!
⁴I ^(D)adjure you, O ^(E)daughters of Jerusalem,
    ^(F)that you not stir up or awaken love
    until it pleases.

⁵^(G)Who is that coming up from the wilderness,
leaning on her beloved?

Under the apple tree I awakened you.
There your mother was in labor with you;
there she who bore you was in labor.

⁶Set me as a seal upon your heart,
    as ^(H)a seal upon your arm,
for ^(I)love is strong as death,
    ^(J)jealousy^[a] is fierce as the grave.^[b]
Its flashes are flashes of fire,
    the very ^(K)flame of the Lord.
⁷Many waters cannot quench love,
    neither can floods drown it.
If a man offered for love
    all the wealth of his ^(L)house,
    he^[c] would be utterly despised.

⁸We have a little sister,
    and she ^(M)has no breasts.
What shall we do for our sister
    on the day when she is spoken for?
⁹If she is a wall,
    we will build on her a battlement of silver,
but if she is a door,
    we will enclose her with ^(N)boards of cedar.

then I was in his eyes

Jesus Is Coming

⁶And he said to me, ^(A)“These words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of ^(B)the spirits of the prophets, ^(C)has sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place.”

⁷“And behold, ^(D)I am coming soon. ^(E)Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

⁸I, ^(F)John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, ^(G)I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, ⁹^(H)but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those ^(I)who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”

¹⁰And he said to me, ^(J)“Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. ¹¹^(K)Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.”

¹²“Behold, ^(L)I am coming soon, ^(M)bringing my recompense with me, ^(N)to repay each one for what he has done. ¹³^(O)I am the Alpha and the Omega, ^(P)the first and the last, ^(Q)the beginning and the end.”

¹⁴Blessed are those who ^(R)wash their robes,^[a] so that they may have the right to ^(S)the tree of life and that ^(T)they may enter the city by the gates. ¹⁵^(U)Outside are ^(V)the dogs ^(W)and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

¹⁶^(X)“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things ^(Y)for the churches. I am ^(Z)the root and ^(AA)the descendant of David, ^(AB)the bright morning star.”

¹⁷The Spirit and ^(AC)the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And ^(AD)let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the ^(AE)water of life without price.

¹⁸I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: ^(AF)if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, ¹⁹and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in ^(AG)the tree of life and in ^(AH)the holy city, which are described in this book.

²⁰He who testifies to these things says, “Surely ^(AI)I am coming soon.” Amen. ^(AJ)Come, Lord Jesus!

²¹The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all.^[b] Amen.
