Dios Habla Hoy
12 Jerusalén, alaba al Señor;
Sión, alaba a tu Dios.
13 Pues él reforzó los cerrojos de tus puertas
y bendijo a tus hijos dentro de la ciudad.
14 Él trae la paz a tu territorio
y te satisface con lo mejor del trigo.
15 Él envía su palabra a la tierra,
y su palabra corre a toda prisa.
16 Él produce la nieve como si fuera lana,
y esparce la escarcha como si fuera polvo.
17 Él envía el hielo en forma de granizo;
con el frío que envía, el agua se congela.
18 Pero envía su palabra, y la derrite;
hace soplar el viento, y el agua corre.
19 Él dio a conocer a Jacob, a Israel,
su palabra, sus leyes y decretos.
20 No hizo lo mismo con las otras naciones,
las cuales nunca conocieron sus decretos.

12 Extol the Lord, Jerusalem;(A)
praise your God, Zion.
13 He strengthens the bars of your gates(B)
and blesses your people(C) within you.
14 He grants peace(D) to your borders
and satisfies you(E) with the finest of wheat.(F)
15 He sends his command(G) to the earth;
his word runs(H) swiftly.
16 He spreads the snow(I) like wool
and scatters the frost(J) like ashes.
17 He hurls down his hail(K) like pebbles.
Who can withstand his icy blast?
18 He sends his word(L) and melts them;
he stirs up his breezes,(M) and the waters flow.
19 He has revealed his word(N) to Jacob,(O)
his laws and decrees(P) to Israel.
20 He has done this for no other nation;(Q)
they do not know(R) his laws.[a]

1 Dichos de Salomón, hijo de David, rey de Israel, 2 que tienen como propósito:
comunicar sabiduría e instrucción,
ayudar a comprender palabras llenas de sentido,
3 adquirir instrucción, prudencia,
justicia, rectitud y equilibrio;
4 hacer sagaces a los jóvenes inexpertos,
y darles conocimiento y reflexión.
5 El que es sabio e inteligente, los escucha,
y adquiere así más sabiduría y experiencia
6 para entender los dichos de los sabios,
y sus palabras, ejemplos y adivinanzas.
7 La sabiduría comienza por honrar al Señor;
los necios desprecian la sabiduría y la instrucción.

Purpose and Theme
1 The proverbs(A) of Solomon(B) son of David, king of Israel:(C)
2 for gaining wisdom and instruction;
for understanding words of insight;
3 for receiving instruction in prudent behavior,
doing what is right and just and fair;
4 for giving prudence to those who are simple,[a](D)
knowledge and discretion(E) to the young—
5 let the wise listen and add to their learning,(F)
and let the discerning get guidance—
6 for understanding proverbs and parables,(G)
the sayings and riddles(H) of the wise.[b](I)

La verdadera sabiduría
13 Si entre ustedes hay alguno sabio y entendido, que lo demuestre con su buena conducta, con la humildad que su sabiduría le da. 14 Pero si ustedes dejan que la envidia les amargue el corazón, y hacen las cosas por rivalidad, entonces no tienen de qué enorgullecerse y están faltando a la verdad. 15 Porque esta sabiduría no es la que viene de Dios, sino que es sabiduría de este mundo, de la mente humana y del diablo mismo. 16 Donde hay envidias y rivalidades, hay también desorden y toda clase de maldad; 17 pero los que tienen la sabiduría que viene de Dios, llevan ante todo una vida pura; y además son pacíficos, bondadosos y dóciles. Son también compasivos, imparciales y sinceros, y hacen el bien. 18 Y los que procuran la paz, siembran en paz para recoger como fruto la justicia.

Two Kinds of Wisdom
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it(A) by their good life, by deeds(B) done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition(C) in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.(D) 15 Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven(E) but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.(F) 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition,(G) there you find disorder and every evil practice.
17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven(H) is first of all pure; then peace-loving,(I) considerate, submissive, full of mercy(J) and good fruit, impartial and sincere.(K) 18 Peacemakers(L) who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.(M)
