Give Heed to My Cry
A [a]Maskil of David. When he was [b]in the cave. A Prayer.
142 With my voice to Yahweh, I (A)cry aloud;
With my voice to Yahweh, I (B)make supplication.
2 I (C)pour out my complaint before Him;
I declare my (D)distress before Him.
3 When (E)my spirit [c]was faint within me,
You knew my path.
In the way where I walk
They have (F)hidden a trap for me.
4 Look to the right and see;
That there is (G)no one who regards me;
(H)A way of escape has been destroyed from me;
(I)No one cares for my soul.
5 I cried out to You, O Yahweh;
I said, “You are (J)my refuge,
My (K)portion in the (L)land of the living.
6 (M)Give heed to my cry of lamentation,
For I am (N)brought very low;
Deliver me from my persecutors,
For they are too (O)strong for me.
7 (P)Bring my soul out of prison,
To give thanks to Your name;
The righteous will encircle me,
For You will (Q)deal bountifully with me.”

Hoffnung für Alle
Niemand will etwas von mir wissen!
142 Ein Gebet von David, zum Nachdenken. Er verfasste es, als er sich auf der Flucht vor Saul in einer Höhle versteckte.[a]
2 Ich schreie zum Herrn um Hilfe
und flehe laut um sein Erbarmen.
3 Ihm klage ich meine ganze Not;
ihm sage ich, was mich bedrängt.
4 Wenn ich nicht mehr weiterweiß,
kennst du, Gott, noch einen Ausweg.
Denn wohin ich auch gehe:
Überall will man mich ins Unglück stürzen.
5 Wohin ich auch sehe:
Nirgendwo will man etwas von mir wissen.
Ich finde keine Hilfe mehr,
und keiner kümmert sich um mich.
6 Deshalb schreie ich zu dir, Herr!
Ich bekenne: Du allein bist meine Zuflucht!
Du bist alles, was ich im Leben brauche.[b]
7 Höre auf meinen Hilfeschrei,
denn ich bin völlig verzweifelt!
Rette mich vor meinen Verfolgern,
denn ich bin ihnen hilflos ausgeliefert!
8 Hole mich aus dieser Höhle[c] heraus!
Dann will ich deinen Namen preisen
und dir vor allen danken, die zu dir gehören.
Denn du hast mir Gutes getan.
