Psalm 142
Good News Translation
(A)A Prayer for Help[a]
142 I call to the Lord for help;
I plead with him.
2 I bring him all my complaints;
I tell him all my troubles.
3 When I am ready to give up,
he knows what I should do.
In the path where I walk,
my enemies have hidden a trap for me.
4 When I look beside me,
I see that there is no one to help me,
no one to protect me.
No one cares for me.
5 Lord, I cry to you for help;
you, Lord, are my protector;
you are all I want in this life.
6 Listen to my cry for help,
for I am sunk in despair.
Save me from my enemies;
they are too strong for me.
7 Set me free from my distress;[b]
then in the assembly of your people I will praise you
because of your goodness to me.

King James Version
142 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.
2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.
3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.
4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.
5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.
6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.
7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

142 Iz svega glasa BOGA zovem,
vapim BOGU upomoć.
2 Jadikujem pred njim,
nevolju s njim dijelim.
3 Kad klonem duhom,
ti znaš što mi je činiti.
Na putu kojim idem
čeka me zamka.
4 Gledam oko sebe,
nitko me ne primjećuje.
Nemam se kamo skloniti,
nitko za mene ne brine.
5 Tebe zovem upomoć, BOŽE.
Kažem: »Ti si moje sklonište,
sve što trebam u životu.«
6 Pažljivo me slušaj,
jer sam bespomoćan!
Spasi me od progonitelja,
prejaki su za mene.
7 Izvedi me iz zatočeništva
da mogu tvoje ime slaviti.
A pravedni će mi se pridružiti
jer si dobar prema meni.
