Psalm 141:8-146:10

⁸ But ^(A)my eyes are toward you, O God, my Lord;
    ^(B)in you I seek refuge; leave me not defenseless!^[a]
9 Keep me from ^(C)the trap that they have laid for me
    and from the snares of evildoers!
¹⁰ Let the wicked ^(D)fall into their own nets,
    while I pass by safely.

³ When my spirit ^(I)faints within me,
    you know my way!
In the path where I walk
    they have ^(J)hidden a trap for me.
^4 (K)Look to the ^(L)right and see:
    ^(M)there is none who takes notice of me;
^(N)no refuge remains to me;
    no one cares for my soul.

⁵ I cry to you, O Lord;
    I say, “You are my ^(O)refuge,
    my ^(P)portion in ^(Q)the land of the living.”
^6 (R)Attend to my cry,
    for ^(S)I am brought very low!
Deliver me from my persecutors,
    ^(T)for they are too strong for me!
^7 (U)Bring me out of prison,
    that I may give thanks to your name!
The righteous will surround me,
    for you will ^(V)deal bountifully with me.

³ For the enemy has pursued my soul;
    ^(AB)he has crushed my life to the ground;
    ^(AC)he has made me sit in darkness like those long dead.
⁴ Therefore my spirit ^(AD)faints within me;
    my heart within me is appalled.

^5 (AE)I remember the days of old;
    ^(AF)I meditate on all that you have done;
    I ponder the work of your hands.
^6 (AG)I stretch out my hands to you;
    ^(AH)my soul thirsts for you like ^(AI)a parched land. Selah

^7 (AJ)Answer me quickly, O Lord!
    ^(AK)My spirit fails!
^(AL)Hide not your face from me,
    ^(AM)lest I be like those who go down to the pit.
^8 (AN)Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,
    for in you I ^(AO)trust.
^(AP)Make me know the way I should go,
    ^(AQ)for to you I lift up my soul.

^9 (AR)Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord!
    I have fled to you for refuge.^[c]
10 (AS)Teach me to do your will,
    for you are my God!
^(AT)Let your good Spirit ^(AU)lead me
    on ^(AV)level ground!

^11 (AW)For your name's sake, O Lord, ^(AX)preserve my life!
    In your righteousness ^(AY)bring my soul out of trouble!
¹² And in your steadfast love you will ^(AZ)cut off my enemies,
    and you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul,
    for I am your ^(BA)servant.

³ O Lord, ^(BI)what is man that you ^(BJ)regard him,
    or the son of man that you think of him?
^4 (BK)Man is like a breath;
    his days are like ^(BL)a passing ^(BM)shadow.

^5 (BN)Bow your heavens, O Lord, and come down!
    ^(BO)Touch the mountains so that they smoke!
^6 (BP)Flash forth the lightning and scatter them;
    ^(BQ)send out your arrows and rout them!
^7 (BR)Stretch out your hand from on high;
    ^(BS)rescue me and deliver me from the many waters,
    from the hand ^(BT)of foreigners,
⁸ whose mouths speak ^(BU)lies
    and whose right hand is ^(BV)a right hand of falsehood.

⁹ I will sing ^(BW)a new song to you, O God;
    upon ^(BX)a ten-stringed harp I will play to you,
¹⁰ who gives victory to kings,
    who ^(BY)rescues David his servant from the cruel sword.
¹¹ Rescue me and deliver me
    from the hand ^(BZ)of foreigners,
whose mouths speak ^(CA)lies
    and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

¹² May our sons in their youth
    be like ^(CB)plants full grown,
our daughters like ^(CC)corner pillars
    cut for the structure of a palace;
^13 (CD)may our granaries be full,
    ^(CE)providing all kinds of produce;
may our sheep bring forth thousands
    and ten thousands in our fields;
¹⁴ may our cattle be heavy with young,
    suffering no mishap or failure in bearing;^[e]
may there be no ^(CF)cry of distress in our streets!
^15 (CG)Blessed are the people to whom such blessings fall!
    ^(CH)Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord!

^4 (CN)One generation shall commend your works to another,
    and shall declare your mighty acts.
⁵ On ^(CO)the glorious splendor of your majesty,
    and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
⁶ They shall speak of ^(CP)the might of your awesome deeds,
    and I will declare your greatness.
⁷ They shall pour forth the fame of your ^(CQ)abundant goodness
    and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

⁸ The Lord is ^(CR)gracious and merciful,
    slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
⁹ The Lord is ^(CS)good to all,
    and his mercy is over all that he has made.

^10 (CT)All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord,
    and all your ^(CU)saints shall bless you!
¹¹ They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom
    and tell of your power,
¹² to ^(CV)make known to the children of man your^{[g] (CW)}mighty deeds,
    and ^(CX)the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
^13 (CY)Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
    and your dominion endures throughout all generations.

[The Lord is faithful in all his words
    and kind in all his works.]^[h]
14 The Lord ^(CZ)upholds all who are falling
    and ^(DA)raises up all who are bowed down.
¹⁵ The eyes of all ^(DB)look to you,
    and you give them their food in due season.
¹⁶ You ^(DC)open your hand;
    you ^(DD)satisfy the desire of every living thing.
¹⁷ The Lord is ^(DE)righteous in all his ways
    and ^(DF)kind in all his works.
¹⁸ The Lord is ^(DG)near to all who call on him,
    to all who call on him ^(DH)in truth.
¹⁹ He ^(DI)fulfills the desire of those who fear him;
    he also ^(DJ)hears their cry and saves them.
²⁰ The Lord ^(DK)preserves all who love him,
    but all the wicked he will destroy.

²¹ My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
    and ^(DL)let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.

^3 (DP)Put not your trust in princes,
    ^(DQ)in a son of man, in whom there is ^(DR)no salvation.
⁴ When ^(DS)his breath departs, he returns to the earth;
    on that very day his plans perish.

^5 (DT)Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
    whose ^(DU)hope is in the Lord his God,
^6 (DV)who made heaven and earth,
    the sea, and all that is in them,
^(DW)who keeps faith forever;
^{7     (DX)}who executes justice for the oppressed,
    ^(DY)who gives food to the hungry.

^(DZ)The Lord sets the prisoners free;
^{8     (EA)}the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
^(EB)The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
    ^(EC)the Lord loves the righteous.
^9 (ED)The Lord watches over the sojourners;
    ^(EE)he upholds the widow and the fatherless,
    but ^(EF)the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

^10 (EG)The Lord will reign forever,
    your God, O Zion, to all generations.
^(EH)Praise the Lord!
