International Children’s Bible
In Praise of the Temple
A song for going up to worship.
132 Lord, remember David and all his suffering.
2 He made a promise to the Lord.
He made a promise to the Mighty God of Jacob.
3 He said, “I will not go home to my house.
I will not lie down on my bed.
4 I will not close my eyes
or let myself sleep
5 until I find a place for the Lord.
I want to provide a home for the Mighty God of Jacob.”
6 We heard about the Ark of the Covenant in Bethlehem.
We found it at Kiriath Jearim.
7 Let’s go to the Lord’s house.
Let’s worship at his footstool.
8 Rise, Lord, and come to your resting place.
Come with the Ark of the Covenant that shows your strength.
9 May your priests do what is right.
May your people sing for joy.
10 For the sake of your servant David,
do not reject your appointed king.
11 The Lord made a promise to David.
It was a sure promise that he will not take back.
He promised, “I will make one of your descendants
rule as king after you.
12 But your sons must keep my agreement
and the rules that I teach them.
Then their sons after them will rule
on your throne forever and ever.”
13 The Lord has chosen Jerusalem.
He wants it for his home.
14 He says, “This is my resting place forever.
Here is where I want to stay.
15 I will bless her with plenty of food.
I will fill her poor with food.
16 I will let her priests receive salvation.
And those who worship me will really sing for joy.
17 “I will make a king come from the family of David.
I will provide my appointed one descendants to rule after him.
18 I will cover his enemies with shame.
But his crown will shine.”

Guds tempel och Davids kungahus
1-2 Herre, du glömmer väl inte vilka prövningar David fick gå igenom. Tänk på de högtidliga löften han gav dig, vår stamfar Jakobs Gud, när han lovade och sa:
3-5 Jag vill inte gå in i mitt hus, och jag vill inte lägga mig i min säng. Jag vill inte heller gå till vila förrän jag byggt ett bestående hem åt Herrens ark, ett tempel åt Israels mäktige.
6 Först fick vi höra att arken fanns i Betlehem och sedan att den var i skogstrakterna.
7 Men nu ska den få stå i ett tempel, där Gud ska bo här på jorden. Det är dit vi ska gå för att be till honom.
8 Res dig, Herre, och gå för alltid in i ditt tempel tillsammans med arken, som vittnar om din stora styrka.
9 Prästerna som tjänar dig ska alltid hålla sig till det förbund, som du har ingått med oss. Var och en som älskar dig ska då jubla av glädje.
10 Förkasta inte din tjänare David, den kung du har utvalt åt ditt folk,
11 för du har lovat honom: En av dina söner ska jag göra till tronföljare!
12 Och om dina efterlevande håller förbundet med mig och lyder mina bud, så ska en av dem för alltid vara kung!
13 Herre, du har utvalt berget Sion till ditt hem.
14 Detta är den plats där jag vill slå mig ner. Här är den viloplats som jag har valt, sa du.
15 Hela denna stad ska få allt den behöver, och de fattiga ska kunna äta sig mätta.
16 Jag ska välsigna stadens präster i allt de gör, och dess invånare ska ropa och sjunga av glädje.
17 Här vill jag göra en av Davids söner till en stor kung, och hans kungahus ska bestå för alltid.
18 Hans fiender ska komma att skämmas, men hans rike ska ha framgång och blomstra.

1 A Song of Ascents.
Adonai, remember David,
all his afflictions,
2 and how he swore to Adonai,
vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3 “I will not enter the tent of my house
nor lie on my bed,
4 nor will I will give sleep to my eyes,
nor slumber to my eyelids,
5 till I find a place for Adonai,
a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6 Behold, we heard of it in Ephratha,
we found it in the fields of Joar.
7 Let us go into His dwelling place,
let us bow at His footstool.
8 Arise, Adonai, to Your resting place—
You, and the Ark of Your might.
9 Let Your kohanim wear righteousness,
and let Your godly ones sing for joy.
10 For Your servant David’s sake
do not turn away the face of Your anointed.[a]
11 Adonai has sworn to David
a true promise He will not revoke:
“From the fruit of your body
I will set one upon your throne—[b]
12 if your children keep My covenant
and My law that I will teach them,
then their sons will sit on your throne forever.”
13 For Adonai has chosen Zion,
He has desired it for His dwelling:
14 “This is My resting place forever.
Here I dwell, for I have desired it.
15 I will abundantly bless her food.
I will satisfy her needy ones with bread.
16 I will clothe her kohanim with salvation,
and her godly ones will sing aloud for joy.
17 There will I make a horn spring up for David,[c]
I have set up a lamp for My anointed.
18 His enemies I will clothe with shame,
but upon himself his crown will shine.”

or slumber to my eyelids,
5 till I find a place(E) for the Lord,
a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:[a](G)
7 “Let us go to his dwelling place,(H)
let us worship at his footstool,(I) saying,
8 ‘Arise, Lord,(J) and come to your resting place,
you and the ark of your might.
9 May your priests be clothed with your righteousness;(K)
may your faithful people(L) sing for joy.’”
10 For the sake of your servant David,
do not reject your anointed one.
11 The Lord swore an oath to David,(M)
a sure oath he will not revoke:
“One of your own descendants(N)
I will place on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant(O)
and the statutes I teach them,
then their sons will sit
on your throne(P) for ever and ever.”
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion,(Q)
he has desired it for his dwelling,(R) saying,
14 “This is my resting place for ever and ever;(S)
here I will sit enthroned,(T) for I have desired it.
15 I will bless her with abundant provisions;
her poor I will satisfy with food.(U)
16 I will clothe her priests(V) with salvation,
and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.(W)
