Psalm 131

A song of ascents. Of David.

My heart is not proud,(A) Lord,
    my eyes are not haughty;(B)
I do not concern myself with great matters(C)
    or things too wonderful for me.(D)
But I have calmed and quieted myself,(E)
    I am like a weaned child with its mother;
    like a weaned child I am content.(F)

Israel, put your hope(G) in the Lord
    both now and forevermore.(H)

Cántico para los peregrinos que suben a Jerusalén. Salmo de David.

131 Señor, mi corazón no es orgulloso;
    mis ojos no son altivos.
No me intereso en cuestiones demasiado grandes
    o impresionantes que no puedo asimilar.
En cambio, me he calmado y aquietado,
    como un niño destetado que ya no llora por la leche de su madre.
    Sí, tal como un niño destetado es mi alma en mi interior.

Oh Israel, pon tu esperanza en el Señor,
    ahora y siempre.

131 Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.

Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.

Let Israel hope in the Lord from henceforth and for ever.
