¹How long, O Yahweh? Will you forget me forever?
    How long will you hide your face from me?
²How long must I make decisions alone
    with sorrow in my heart day after day?
    How long will my enemy triumph over me?

³Look at me! Answer me, O Yahweh my Elohim!
    Light up my eyes,
    or else I will die
⁴        and my enemy will say, “I have overpowered him.”
            My opponents will rejoice because I have been shaken.

⁵But I trust your mercy.
My heart finds joy in your salvation.
⁶I will sing to Yahweh because he has been good to me.

13 How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?
^(A)How long will You hide Your face from me?
²How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
Having sorrow in my heart daily?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

³Consider and hear me, O Lord my God;
^(B)Enlighten my eyes,
^(C)Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
⁴Lest my enemy say,
“I have prevailed against him”;
Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

⁵But I have trusted in Your mercy;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
⁶I will sing to the Lord,
Because He has dealt bountifully with me.
