13 How long will you forget me, Lord? Forever? How long will you look the other way when I am in need? How long must I be hiding daily anguish in my heart? How long shall my enemy have the upper hand?

Answer me, O Lord my God; give me light in my darkness lest I die. Don’t let my enemies say, “We have conquered him!” Don’t let them gloat that I am down.

But I will always trust in you and in your mercy and shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord because he has blessed me so richly.

How Long, O Yahweh?

For the choir director. A Psalm of David.

13 How long, O Yahweh? Will You (A)forget me forever?
How long (B)will You hide Your face from me?
How long shall I (C)take counsel in my soul,
Having (D)sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

(E)Look and answer me, O Yahweh my God;
(F)Give light to my eyes, lest I (G)sleep the sleep of death,
Lest my enemy (H)says, “I have overcome him,”
And (I)my adversaries rejoice that I am shaken.

But I have (J)trusted in Your lovingkindness;
My heart shall (K)rejoice in Your salvation.
I will (L)sing to Yahweh,
Because He has (M)dealt bountifully with me.

13 How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?

Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Trust in the Salvation of the Lord

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

13 How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?
(A)How long will You hide Your face from me?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
Having sorrow in my heart daily?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

Consider and hear me, O Lord my God;
(B)Enlighten my eyes,
(C)Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Lest my enemy say,
“I have prevailed against him”;
Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

But I have trusted in Your mercy;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
Because He has dealt bountifully with me.
