⁴ Blessed shall be ^(A)the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock.

²⁷ For this child I prayed, ^(A)and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him.

⁵ And when Esau lifted up his eyes and saw the women and children, he said, “Who are these with you?” Jacob said, ^(A)“The children whom God has graciously given your servant.”

^18 (A)Behold, I and ^(B)the children whom the Lord has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.

⁴ and said to me, ‘Behold, I will make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will make of you a company of peoples and will give this land to your offspring after you ^(A)for an everlasting possession.’

²⁸ And God blessed them. And God said to them, ^(A)“Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

^3 (A)Then I took your father Abraham from beyond the River^[a] and ^(B)led him through all the land of Canaan, and made his offspring many. ^(C)I gave him Isaac. ⁴ And to Isaac I gave ^(D)Jacob and Esau. ^(E)And I gave Esau the hill country of Seir to possess, ^(F)but Jacob and his children went down to Egypt.

¹⁹ They rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord; then they went back to their house at ^(A)Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord ^(B)remembered her. ²⁰ And in due time Hannah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Samuel, for she said, “I have asked for him from the Lord.”^[a]
