Psalm 124
New King James Version
The Lord the Defense of His People
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
124 “If it had not been the Lord who was on our (A)side,”
(B)Let Israel now say—
2 “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,
When men rose up against us,
3 Then they would have (C)swallowed us alive,
When their wrath was kindled against us;
4 Then the waters would have overwhelmed us,
The stream would have [a]gone over our soul;
5 Then the swollen waters
Would have [b]gone over our soul.”
6 Blessed be the Lord,
Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
7 (D)Our soul has escaped (E)as a bird from the snare of the [c]fowlers;
The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
8 (F)Our help is in the name of the Lord,
(G)Who made heaven and earth.

124 Om Herren inte hade stått på vår sida - det kan hela Israel intyga - om Herren inte hade stått på vår sida,
2-3 då skulle våra fiender ha svalt oss levande och utplånat oss i sin ilska.
4-5 Vatten skulle ha övertäckt oss och dragit ner oss i djupen.
6 Välsignad vare Herren, som inte har låtit dem slita oss i stycken.
7 Vi har flytt för livet, som fåglar från jägarens snara. Men snaran har gått sönder, och vi är fria!
8 Vår hjälp kommer från Herren, som har skapat himmel och jord.

124 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;
2 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us:
3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:
5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
