Psalm 124
A song of ascents. Of David.
1 If the Lord had not been on our side—
let Israel say(A)—
2 if the Lord had not been on our side
when people attacked us,
3 they would have swallowed us alive
when their anger flared against us;
4 the flood(B) would have engulfed us,
the torrent(C) would have swept over us,
5 the raging waters
would have swept us away.

124 Što bi bilo s nama
da uz nas nije bio BOG?
Reci nam, Izraele!
2 Što bi nas zadesilo
da BOG nije bio uz nas
kad su svi bili protiv?
3 Žive bi nas progutali
kad su na nas bjesnjeli.
4 Odnijeli bi nas kao voda,
podavili kao riječna bujica.
5 Njihove vojske bi nas,
kao divlje vode, preplavile.
6 Slava BOGU! Jer nismo plijen.
Nije nas neprijatelj zubima rastrgao.
7 Pobjegli smo kao ptica iz mreže lovca.
Ona se pokidala, a mi smo se spasili.
8 Naša je pomoć u imenu BOGA,
stvoritelju zemlje i neba!

124 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;
2 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us:
3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:
5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

(B)Let Israel now say—
2 “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,
When men rose up against us,
3 Then they would have (C)swallowed us alive,
When their wrath was kindled against us;
4 Then the waters would have overwhelmed us,
The stream would have [a]gone over our soul;
5 Then the swollen waters
Would have [b]gone over our soul.”
6 Blessed be the Lord,
Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
7 (D)Our soul has escaped (E)as a bird from the snare of the [c]fowlers;
The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
8 (F)Our help is in the name of the Lord,
(G)Who made heaven and earth.
