Prayer for Yahweh’s Action in the Face of Scorn
A song of ascents.[a]
123 I lift up my eyes to you,
the one enthroned[b] in the heavens.
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants
look to the hand of their master,[c]
as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to Yahweh our God,
until he is gracious to us.
3 Be gracious to us, O Yahweh, be gracious to us,
for long enough we have had our fill of contempt.
4 For long enough our soul has had its fill of
the derision of the self-confident,
the contempt of the arrogant.

2 He aquí como los ojos de los esclavos miran a la mano de sus señores, y como los ojos de la esclava a la mano de su señora; así nuestros ojos esperan al SEÑOR nuestro Dios, hasta que tenga misericordia de nosotros.
3 Ten misericordia de nosotros, oh SEÑOR, ten misericordia de nosotros; porque estamos muy hastiados de menosprecio.
4 Muy hastiada está nuestra alma del escarnio de los que están en holgura; del menosprecio de los soberbios.

1 I lift up my eyes to you,
to you who sit enthroned(A) in heaven.
2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord(B) our God,
till he shows us his mercy.
3 Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us,
for we have endured no end of contempt.
4 We have endured no end
of ridicule from the arrogant,
of contempt from the proud.
