⁸⁹Forever, O Lord, your ^(A)word
    is firmly fixed in the heavens.
⁹⁰Your ^(B)faithfulness endures to all generations;
    you have ^(C)established the earth, and it ^(D)stands fast.
⁹¹By your ^(E)appointment they stand this day,
    for all things are your servants.
⁹²If your law had not been my ^(F)delight,
    I would have perished in my affliction.
⁹³I will never forget your precepts,
    for by them you have ^(G)given me life.
⁹⁴I am yours; save me,
    ^(H)for I have sought your precepts.
⁹⁵The wicked lie in wait to destroy me,
    but I consider your testimonies.
⁹⁶I have seen a limit to all perfection,
    but your commandment is exceedingly ^(I)broad.

Jeremiah 36:27-32

²⁷Now after the king had burned the scroll with the words that Baruch wrote at Jeremiah's dictation, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: ²⁸“Take another scroll and write on it all the former words that were in the first scroll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned. ²⁹And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, ‘Thus says the Lord, You have burned this scroll, saying, ^(A)“Why have you written in it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will cut off from it man and beast?” ³⁰Therefore thus says the Lord concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: ^(B)He shall have none ^(C)to sit on the throne of David, ^(D)and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat by day and the frost by night. ³¹^(E)And I will punish him and his offspring and his servants for their iniquity. I will bring upon them and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem and upon the people of Judah all the disaster that I have pronounced against them, but they would not hear.’”

³²Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to ^(F)Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who ^(G)wrote on it at the dictation of Jeremiah all the words of the scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And many similar words were added to them.

³⁸^(A)And he arose and left the synagogue and entered Simon's house. Now ^(B)Simon's mother-in-law was ill with a high fever, and they appealed to him on her behalf. ³⁹And he stood over her and ^(C)rebuked the fever, and it left her, and immediately she rose and began to serve them.

⁴⁰Now when the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to him, and ^(D)he laid his hands on every one of them and healed them. ⁴¹^(E)And demons also came out of many, ^(F)crying, “You are ^(G)the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and ^(H)would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was ^(I)the Christ.

⁴²^(J)And when it was day, he departed and went ^(K)into a desolate place. And ^(L)the people sought him and came to him, and would have kept him from leaving them, ⁴³but he said to them, ^(M)“I must ^(N)preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.” ⁴⁴And he was preaching ^(O)in the synagogues of Judea.^[a]
