Lamedh

89 Forever, O Lord, your (A)word
is firmly fixed in the heavens.
90 Your (B)faithfulness endures to all generations;
you have (C)established the earth, and it (D)stands fast.
91 By your (E)appointment they stand this day,
for all things are your servants.
92 If your law had not been my (F)delight,
I would have perished in my affliction.
93 I will never forget your precepts,
for by them you have (G)given me life.
94 I am yours; save me,
(H)for I have sought your precepts.
95 The wicked lie in wait to destroy me,
    but I consider your testimonies.
96 I have seen a limit to all perfection,
but your commandment is exceedingly (I)broad.

11 When Micaiah the son of Gemariah, son of (A)Shaphan, heard all the words of the Lord from the scroll, 12 he went down to the king's house, into the secretary's chamber, and (B)all the officials were sitting there: (C)Elishama the secretary, (D)Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, (E)Elnathan (F)the son of Achbor, (G)Gemariah the son of (H)Shaphan, Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the officials. 13 And Micaiah told them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the scroll in the hearing of the people. 14 Then all the officials sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, son of (I)Shelemiah, son of Cushi, to say to Baruch, “Take in your hand the scroll that you read in the hearing of the people, and come.” So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand and came to them. 15 And they said to him, “Sit down and read it.” So Baruch read it to them. 16 When they heard all the words, they turned one to another in fear. And they said to Baruch, (J)“We must report all these words to the king.” 17 Then they asked Baruch, “Tell us, please, how did you write all these words? Was it at his dictation?” 18 Baruch answered them, “He dictated all these words to me, (K)while I wrote them with ink on the scroll.” 19 Then the officials said to Baruch, “Go and hide, you and Jeremiah, and let no one know where you are.”

20 So they went into the court to the king, having put the scroll in (L)the chamber of Elishama the secretary, and they reported all the words to the king. 21 Then the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it from the chamber of Elishama the secretary. And Jehudi read it to the king and all the officials who stood beside the king. 22 It was (M)the ninth month, and the king was sitting in (N)the winter house, and there was a fire burning in the fire pot before him. 23 As Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut them off with a knife and throw them into the fire in the fire pot, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the fire pot. 24 Yet (O)neither the king nor any of his servants who heard all these words was afraid, (P)nor did they tear their garments. 25 Even when (Q)Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah (R)urged the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them. 26 And the king commanded Jerahmeel the (S)king's son and Seraiah the son of Azriel and (T)Shelemiah the son of Abdeel to seize (U)Baruch the secretary and Jeremiah the prophet, but the Lord hid them.

Paul's Joy

(A)Make room in your hearts[a] for us. (B)We have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have taken advantage of no one. I do not say this to condemn you, for I said before that (C)you are in our hearts, to die together and to live together. I am acting with (D)great boldness toward you; (E)I have great pride in you; (F)I am filled with comfort. In all our affliction, I am overflowing with joy.

For even (G)when we came into Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were afflicted at every turn—(H)fighting without and fear within. But (I)God, who comforts the downcast, (J)comforted us by the coming of Titus, and not only by his coming but also by the comfort with which he was comforted by you, as he told us of your longing, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced still more. For (K)even if I made you grieve with my letter, I do not regret it—though (L)I did regret it, for I see that that letter grieved you, though only for a while. As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but (M)because you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief, so that you suffered no loss through us.

10 For (N)godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas (O)worldly grief produces death. 11 For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, (P)what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves innocent in the matter. 12 So although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the one (Q)who did the wrong, nor for the sake of the one who suffered the wrong, but in order that your earnestness for us might be revealed to you in the sight of God.
