Psalm 119:41-48

⁴¹May your unfailing love^(A) come to me, Lord,
    your salvation, according to your promise;^(B)
⁴²then I can answer^(C) anyone who taunts me,^(D)
    for I trust in your word.
⁴³Never take your word of truth from my mouth,^(E)
    for I have put my hope^(F) in your laws.
⁴⁴I will always obey your law,^(G)
    for ever and ever.
⁴⁵I will walk about in freedom,
    for I have sought out your precepts.^(H)
⁴⁶I will speak of your statutes before kings^(I)
    and will not be put to shame,^(J)
⁴⁷for I delight^(K) in your commands
    because I love them.^(L)
⁴⁸I reach out for your commands, which I love,
    that I may meditate^(M) on your decrees.

James 2:8-13

⁸If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,”^[a]^(A) you are doing right. ⁹But if you show favoritism,^(B) you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.^(C) ¹⁰For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles^(D) at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.^(E) ¹¹For he who said, “You shall not commit adultery,”^[b]^(F) also said, “You shall not murder.”^[c]^(G) If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker.

¹²Speak and act as those who are going to be judged^(H) by the law that gives freedom,^(I) ¹³because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful.^(J) Mercy triumphs over judgment.
